Growing with God...November 5, 2021

Dear St. Michael Preschool Families,

"I will give thanks to you, LORD, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds." Psalm 9:1

Happy November! As Thanksgiving approaches, I continue to reflect on how much we have to be thankful for: a safe Catholic preschool where we can pray, play, and learn; loving and dedicated teachers who share their many God-given gifts; our St. Michael Parish clergy who are eager to support the children's growing faith; supportive and generous parents who partner with us to enrich their children's preschool education; and the preschoolers whose joyful hearts brighten each day!

The teachers and I are especially excited for the holiday season and how this time enriches our daily learning through teachable moments like the Thanksgiving Basket project to share in the importance of family, giving, and being grateful, as well as St. Nicholas Feast Day, to learn how we can strive to be like God's helpers here on earth.

Please look for more details in this newsletter and in the coming weeks about special events like The Giving Tree fundraiser, St. Mike's Tikes 2nd Annual Live Nativity, and our annual Christmas Sing-along w/Miss Karen. We hope you find these events a festive way to kick off the holiday season. Thank you for your ongoing support, and “I pray that the fellowship of our faith may become every good thing which is in us through Christ.” Philomen 1:6

Fall blessings,

Lisa Ciesla

Preschool Director

If a child develops one of the COVID-19 exclusionary symptoms (fever of 100.4 or higher, chills, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, new cough, or new loss of taste or smell), families have three options:

  1. stay home for 10 days from when symptoms first began, or
  2. receive a negative PCR COVID test, or
  3. receive a negative antigen (rapid) COVID test, only accepted if the child has no known or suspected exposure to a person with COVID-19 within the last 14 days
  4. provide a note of alternate diagnosis from the pediatrician

If a child is sick with a non-exclusionary symptom, like a fever under 100.4, stuffy or runny nose, sore throat, vomiting, or diarrhea, our normal illness policy applies (24 hours free of diarrhea, vomiting, and fever without fever-reducing medication before returning to school). Your child must look and feel well before returning to school.

Dress For the Weather

Please watch the weather and dress your child accordingly. Students will play outside daily when the temperature is above freezing with no precipitation.

As the seasons are changing, please remember to send in a cold-weather change of clothes for your child. Thank you!

Your child's safety and that of our entire preschool community is a top priority. On Thursday, 11/4, a campus-wide Lockdown Drill was held. This is a required yearly drill coordinated by the Town of Cary Police Department. Feedback from the police was very positive in that the teachers and children are doing an excellent job following the established safety measures.

Snack Allergy Policy

  • Children will bring their own snack to school. We ask that it be just one or two items that can be easily enjoyed by your child.
  • Snacks may NOT contain peanuts/nuts or peanut/nut products. This includes foods that have been produced/processed in a plant with nut products.
  • Avoid potential choking hazards - all grapes, cherries, and mini tomatoes need to be cut in half. Popcorn and hard candy are not permitted.

We will be using our scarves this month for some extra movement. I am very thankful for your funny, sweet, kind children, and savor every moment that I share with them! I wish you and your families a wonderful Thanksgiving!
