Chandler's Parent Connection

September 2018

Principal's Corner

As I begin my sixth school year at Chandler Elementary, I am energized and deeply committed to making a positive difference in the lives of your children. We will accomplish this by setting high academic expectations for all children and providing supportive systems to assure they are met.

We value the "Team Spirit" and "Family " atmosphere here at Chandler. This year we are excited about working as a team with all faculty, staff, scholars, and parents. We are enthusiastic about involving the scholars in different activities that promote respect, responsibility and community.

Our goal this year includes setting high standards for teacher performance, increased academic expectations for all scholars, and will engage the community at Chandler Elementary.

We always embrace the challenges of the future while we continue to cherish and celebrate the traditions of the past. Our remarkable staff, involved parents, and committed scholars come together to make Chandler Elementary a wonderful place where we make everyday a great day.

We are looking forward to working with you and your child(ren) as we work toward a successful school year.

Kind Regards,

Dr. Cynthia Lindley, Principal

FAMILY TIME

Time for a Story

Let's work together and spread the importance of reading. Here's the challenge. Record you and your child snuggled up with a good book and you reading the story to your child. Send it to Dr. Lindley, clindley@kisd.org, and we will share it on our Facebook page for all to enjoy. We can't wait to hear your favorite book.

Trash to Treasure

Got Pringles? Empty cans that is...Chandler will gladly take those off your hands for an upcoming project. Let's recycle those cans and help our school at the same time!!!

Box Tops Matter!!!

Get involved and help Chandler meet their $1000.00 goal with the collection of Box Tops. Collection sheets will be going home soon. Glue or tape them onto the sheet or send them in a baggy. Each Box Top your child brings not only helps the school, but it gets him one step closer to being the Box Top Kid of the month for his class. Let's all pitch in and save those Box Tops. Don't forget to check the expiration date. Get your child involved and make it a family affair. Don't want to wait...we have a drop off mailbox in the front foyer. Be sure your child's name is attached.

Become a HOSTS Volunteer

HOSTS (Helping One Student to Succeed) is a volunteer program at Chandler Elementary. A volunteer is matched with a student and he then commits to reading with that child one time each week for thirty minutes. This program is more than just reading with a child. It is an opportunity to mentor a child. You never know...you may be that one person to jump start that student's love of learning. If interested, contact Chandra Watson, Assistant Principal, at 903-988-3904 or email cwatson@kisd.org.
