News from the School Nurse Office
I just want to thank all parents for your diligence in keeping your students home when ill, for contacting us when you have been made aware that your student or a household member has been exposed to COVID-19, and for cooperating with us as we navigate through this difficult time. Our number one priority is keeping everyone healthy, which in turn will help curb the spread of COVID-19 within our York Suburban Community as well as our community at-large!
Nationwide, within the last 6 days, there have been one million new cases of COVID-19. Pennsylvania has seen growing numbers of COVID-19, with York seeing its largest increase in COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began (please see the PA Department of Health website for up-to-date information). With this in mind, I want to ask everyone to please continue to perform the Daily Screening Tool For Students DAILY. If you answer "Yes" to any of the screening questions, do not send your student to school! In addition, please do not give your student medication in the morning such as Tylenol (acetaminophen) or Ibuprofen (brand names include Advil and Motrin) or naproxen (brand name is Aleve). This will mask a fever as well as symptoms of COVID-19, yet will not prevent COVID-19 from spreading. As we welcome in a major holiday, let's all enjoy our time with our families. There are many ways to celebrate holidays and have some form of normalcy, yet be safe. Please refer to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention for helpful tips.
Last, please continue to communicate with us regarding potential exposure to COVID-19. In addition, if you need guidance regarding whether quarantine is appropriate, please do not hesitate to contact me by e-mail (firstname.lastname@example.org) or phone at 717-885-1220 option 4. Thank you and enjoy your holiday!
