Winn #IMPACT Week

Can You Make a Change?

Purple Monday: LGBTQ

Monday, February 3rd CC. Winn kicked off their first annual #IMPACT week. Students showed their support by wearing purple for Lesbian,Gay,Transgender, and Questioning Bullying Awareness! Statistcs show that bullying of LGBTQ students is a severe, nationwide problem – one made more difficult by the reluctance of many school districts to take strong steps to prevent it. Nearly 9 out of 10 LGBTQ students have experienced harassment. The SPLC (Southern Poverty Law Center) has worked to ensure safe schools for all students – including LGBTQ students – through educational campaigns and legal action. -Ivan Carrizales

Stop Bullying

"I am sick and tired of all the meanness and drama that goes on at school and at home on the internet. People have reasons for the way they act but that doesn't mean you have to taunt them and bring them down. You may think your cool when you bully but how will you feel when you see on the local news that the kid your mean to and bully commits suicide because of you. Words hurt, stop bullying." -Elizabeth,high school student
