Home Readers

Congratulations on the amazing amount of home reading in our BEARS (BE A Reading Sensation) program so far! I have been very impressed with the focus on student' s reading skills and their level of comprehension over semester 1 . To mark the beginning of semester 2 the student's in year 1 will be PM benchmarked to ascertain their current reading level. This assessment will assist in determining the students home reading level. Over the next couple of weeks, as we assess all the students, please be aware your child's reading level may change or remain the same depending on these results.

I would like to remind you that the home reading program has been designed to consolidate and compliment classroom learning. This program encourages regular home reading at an independent level under adult supervision. The home readers should be a comfortable fit where the students are able to read independently, gain confidence and refine their reading skills. Thank you for your support!

Coolbinia's Got Talent!

On Thursday 25th September the long awaited ‘Coolbinia’s Got Talent!’ will be showing! Children who wish to participate in this event are asked to share any kind of talent, whether it be singing, dancing, acting or any other form of stage performance.

Sign-up sheets will be available this week for students to volunteer during their music lesson. Auditions will begin in week four and will take place during lunchtime. They will be done in three year groups: Pre-Primary to year one, years two to four, and years five to seven. In week seven those who have been chosen to perform in the talent quest will be notified.

There will be two major Trophy prizes awarded, a winner from Junior Primary and one from Upper Primary. The two runner ups from each group will also be awarded a medallion for their efforts. The judging panel will consist of three teachers, whose decision will be final.

We encourage children to think about all aspects of their performance, for example wearing a costume, but to keep it simple! We are looking forward to seeing all the wonderful talent we have here at Coolbinia Primary School! It will be a fantastic afternoon and parents are welcome to attend... Let the show begin!

Obstacle-a-thon!

For year 1 students this will take place later in the term with details to be given closer to the date.
