Dear Parents,
Thank you for a great start to the school year! Truitt is still under construction through the beginning of next school year. As you enter the building, you will notice the extra safety measures that are in place. The front entrance now has two different doors that require the receptionist to buzz visitors in the building. Visitors will continue to be required to show ID to enter the campus past the front office. Please be patient with staff as we get all of the procedures in place to keep staff and students safe.
Parents, please go online and complete the free and reduced application. I need 100% of students to have a completed application. The application can be found at the link below.

ID Badges
All students are required to wear their student ID badge on a lanyard. Students should be in compliance with the ID badge policy from the time they arrive at school until they leave campus.
Students who do not have a permanent badge will receive an afterschool D-Hall consequence.
A permanent badge is required for all students to ride the bus home. There will be no exceptions.
Counseling Office
Eighth graders will explore careers and learning styles through the Career Cruising Website on Oct. 3rd. They will begin exploring Endorsements and working on their Four Year Plan for High School.
Attendance Office Procedures
Whenever your child is absent, we must have a note from you explaining why the absence occurred. All notes must include the child’s first and last name, the date of the absence, the reason for the absence, your signature and phone number. If you have a doctor’s excuse, please attach it to the note.

Electronic Devices
1. Electronic devices are to be Turned OFF the moment students ENTER into the building until 2:40.
2. Devices are not to be SEEN or HEARD throughout the day.
3. Electronic devices and/or accessories can only be picked up by a parent or guardian with cash or a money order.
4. Cell phones are subject to a $15 administrative fee.
**Refusal to comply with the electronic device policy can result in disciplinary action.
Lunch Policy
Students will not be called to pick up lunch. Parents need to contact student to let them know lunch has been delivered. No UberEats or pizza delivery for students will be allowed.
Language Arts
The 6th grade students are enjoying their fiction books as well sampling all types of writing. They will be completing the district reading checkpoint on October 12th.
The 7/8 grade students have been working on the writing process by review the different elements of writing and then completing their first essay. During the month of October, the LA students in 7/8 grade will also be completing their first district reading DPM.
Tutorials & Late Buses
Mondays – Electives
Tuesdays – Language Arts/Reading
Wednesdays – Math
Thursdays – Science & Social Studies
Late buses run after tutoring and other after-school activities. The late bus brings your child to their subdivision. Buses usually leave around 4:50 pm.
Students must have a signed tutorial slip (orange) in order to stay for tutorials and academic study hall. Verbal parent confirmation or e-mail is NOT acceptable.
Dress Code
When purchasing school clothes for the new school year please keep in mind the following dress code requirements for Truitt:
- Shorts and skirts must fit at the waist or upper hip. They must not reveal underclothing and must be mid-thigh or longer.
- Pants must be worn at the waist or upper hip and must not reveal underclothing.
- No torn or ripped jeans (from the bottom of the knee and above).
- Leggings will not be allowed to be worn under jeans with holes.
- Tennis shoes or closed toe shoes are preferred. House shoes/house slippers of any kind are not allowed.
- Backpacks need to be clear.
- Tops, shirts and blouses must not reveal underclothing, midsection, torso, back, chest, breast or cleavage.

Notice to Parents
As a parent of a student at a campus receiving Title I funds, federal law allows you to ask for information about the certification, college major, and advanced degrees of your child’s teacher(s). You also have the right to request information about the qualifications of a teacher aide or paraprofessional providing direct services to your child. If you would like to receive this information, you may contact the Cypress-Fairbanks I.S.D. Human Resources Department at 281-897-4099.

FREE FLU VACCINES for all students at Truitt Middle School
on October 22nd. Parents can go on line cyfairisdflu.com to sign up or pick up a Consent Form. Return completed Consent Form to clinic.

ATTENTION 6TH GRADE PARENTS
According to the state law, all incoming 7th graders will need their 11-12 year old Tdap and meningococcal vaccines BEFORE starting school in August 2019. To avoid a delay in your child receiving his/her schedule next fall, you are encouraged take the time, this 6th grade year, to complete the required immunizations. Please send a copy to the school nurse before the end of their 6th grade year.
Extracurricular Student Behavior
All students must follow the Timberwolf Guidelines:
1. All students must go home before returning to campus. Athletes and fine arts students will follow the guidelines from their coach or director.
2. In order to purchase your game day ticket at lunch, students must be wearing their ID badge. Students can not purchase tickets at the door unless they are with their parent.
3. Badges must be worn properly at all times.
4. All students must stay in the appropriate area of the building.
6. Students who are not picked up 15 minutes after game time may lose the opportunity to participate in events in the future.
