Lakeview Concert
Dear Families,
We have begun preparing for Lakeview’s Annual Spring Concert! This year’s concert theme is “Change Sings.” All of our songs connect to the themes in Amanda Gorman’s poem “Change Sings,” like kindness, tolerance, hope, and love!
This special event will take place on Wednesday, March 22 , 2023, at 6:30 p.m. in the South Milwaukee Performing Arts Center (High School). Save the date! All students from 5K through 5th grade are in the concert.
You can find more information about our concert and the songs your student(s) is preparing by visiting this webpage.
Thank you!

Help the SMPD get a Police Dog with a Coin War
We've collect 50 pounds of coins so far! If you are wondering, that is about half of a 5-gallon bucket of coins. The school that collects the most coins (by weight) before February 9 wins a pizza party courtesy of our local heroes in the South Milwaukee Police Department! PLUS ... our police department can get a police dog, so the entire community wins when you donate coins.

Golden Lions
• WOW! Kassidy rocked comparing fish lengths in math this week. She should be very proud of her work!
• Frankie is always engaged in our lessons and has so many good things to share with us about so many things!! Keep it up, Frankie! You are amazing:)
• Julio coached a kindergarten student in kicking a ball. When the other student was successful, Julio gave him a high five with praise. Then he went to another kindergarten student to give her an opportunity to practice kicking the ball. So proud of Julio's kindness and consideration towards others to be successful! Thank you, Julio!
• In the morning, Ms. Nicholson's class came into their classroom very quietly and respectfully while Ms. Nicholson was engaged in a virtual meeting. Way to go, Ms. Nicholson's class in showing the respect your teacher needed to be able to attend her meeting! So proud of you!
• Alex showed great responsibility today. He had been absent and immediately came in starting on the work he missed. He listened diligently during lessons and asked good questions so that he was making sure he was understanding the instruction he missed. Alex I was so impressed with your attitude, you could have easily been overwhelmed but you just kept chunking away at things and using every resource you could to jump right back in.
• Liam has done a great job in recent weeks of being aware of how he is able to stay engaged in his learning. He has been making excellent choices with where to sit on the carpet during our mini-lessons and is fully engaging in the learning by attempting the work and asking questions when he is confused. Way to go, Liam!
• Autumn has been doing a great job with self-starting her Lexia work each day. Additionally, she checks in to be sure she is completing the work correctly and is able to stay so engaged she is completing at least 4 units each work session. Way to go, Autumn!
• During phonics and writing yesterday, Gabby was so focused. She raised her hand every time I asked a question, worked hard to apply our spelling rules in her writing, and took evaluating her work and setting a goal seriously. I'm so proud of you for taking responsibility for your learning. Keep it up, Gabby!
• Bentley went out of way to help a classmate today during our math lesson. He noticed a classmate needed help tying their shoe, politely asked the student if they'd like help, and then kindly tied the show. Thank you for recognizing when others need help and being willing to step in, even for the "small things."
