Message from the Principal

Dear CKS families,

At this time, many of you have reached out about Governor Beshear’s announcement yesterday. Several have expressed their support of returning for face-to-face instruction on Wednesday, August 19th. Some of you have concerns about returning and the safety of your children. I understand both viewpoints, and in the midst of a public health crisis, safety has to be our top priority. This morning, the diocesan principals met with the Superintendent of Schools, and Bishop John has met with the other Kentucky Catholic Bishops. Bishop John will inform us tomorrow morning of his decision regarding our diocesan schools’ start date. We will let you know as soon as possible.

In order to keep us safe as a school community, it is necessary to protect everyone by following safety precautions inside and outside the school. The plans we have put in place can protect us if we remain cautious. As a community, let’s wear our masks, social distance, wash our hands, quarantine after traveling to outbreak “hotspots,” and stay home when we don’t feel well. Let’s be diligent about protecting one another, and let us teach our children to do so as well. I greatly appreciate your support of our reopening plan, and am confident that cohorting, sanitization, and masking will help us to keep the impact isolated if the virus makes its way into our school.

We are looking forward to our virtual Back to School Blast on Sunday, August 16th. Please visit our school’s Facebook page, to watch the livestream of 9:30 a.m. Mass. Videos will follow from me and from your child(ren)’s teachers, introducing themselves and showing off their classroom. We are looking forward to a great year of being together again, CKS Strong!

God bless,

Paula Smith, Ed.S.

Principal, Christ the King School
