Ott's Outlook

November 2019

Prior to being named Superintendent of Temple ISD, I spent a lot of time connecting with, listening to and learning from various community leaders to help me gain a better understanding of what the community wanted for our school district. This was a fascinating process that yielded invaluable information for me as I began to lead the district. One of the common concerns that I heard from these community leaders was that Temple ISD was not marketing our success and telling our story. We have really focused on this over the last 16 months through our comprehensive marketing and communications plan. Below are a few examples of print materials that have been published recently as a part of our strategic efforts. I encourage you to use them to help tell the story of Temple ISD!

The school year is moving quickly and I have just wrapped up fall morning announcements at each campus. I really enjoy this opportunity to connect with an entire campus of students and staff. During these announcements I’ve asked our students to do three things: 1-Be on time, 2-Give your best, and 3-Always be kind. I truly believe that by engaging in these three actions, Temple ISD will continue to be successful as our story continues to unfold.

We recently instituted a new initiative that recognizes our staff members who have devoted their careers to public education. The individuals above each have more than 30 years of experience serving students and our district. We are truly grateful for them!

  • Temple ISD hosted the 2019 Raising Blended Learners Showcase last month where educators form around the state spent time in THS classrooms learning from our staff and students. Participants attended from Leander, Hays, Mexia, Ysleta, Lytle, Riesel and Red Oak ISDs.

  • The TEF Distinguished Alumni Event honoring Thomas Baird, Sonjanette Crossley, Dorothy Powell and Wendell Williams raised over $150,000 for grants and scholarships for Temple ISD.

  • Our HR Department hosted their very first HR Collaborative with other HR executives from across the community this week. They had the opportunity to showcase the district and build networks that will provide for continued collaboration.

...Now that you know, please share these exciting accomplishments with others!
