Hello Sachems! Welcome Back!
I hope all of you had a wonderful weekend! It was such a great first week of the school year. I hope you completed the first week of the 2019-2020 school year feeling great about where you will go this year. I want to thank everyone for being such a great host to Eddie Slowikowski during his visit to MHS last week. You were so engaged in his powerful presentation of believing in yourself and to focus on finishing strong. It is important in life to believe in yourself, and I hope MHS will be the place that strength that resolve to always follow your dreams and become the person you are destined to be. I am so proud to be your principal! It is because of each of you that we are SachemSTRONG! I hope each of you are settling into your classes and keeping pace with the work. Remember, failure is not an option, and I expect that you try your very best each and every day and always remember to FinishSTRONG! Remember as we begin this week. Here are a few things for the week ahead:

- To all of our sports teams for an awesome start to the fall season! Keep growing as a team and remember the power of Sachem Pride!
- To the MHS Band for the wonderful opening to the school year. You made the rally great! Thank you. Also, the halftime show at the football game was awesome.
- To the Concert Choir for helping opening our rally on Friday with the sound of your beautiful voices with the signing of the National Anthem.
- To the majorettes for an awesome opening routine at the football game on Friday night. The fire batons are amazing!
- To the many student leaders who engaged with Eddie Slowikowski in your leadership workshop…I look forward to seeing all that you accomplish this year.
- To the Student Council for an outstanding job of decorating our school for the opening week. Great work!
- To our school community who came together on Friday to send a message that our school is about acceptance, respect and love. Your compassion does not go unnoticed.
Character Strong - Welcome to Middleborough High School
Middleborough High School is VERY excited to launch Character Strong as part of our growing our school community. Beginning on Monday, September 16, 2019, our school will engage in the first lesson of the Character Strong curriculum through our newly designed advisories. Character Strong is a wonderful program to help foster the commitment of our school to be the very best we can be through our resolve for acceptance, compassion and kindness. Get ready for a great kick-off.
Student Council Update:
Nomination papers for Representatives to the Student Council are now available from my office. All completed forms are back to Mr. Branagan's office no later than Friday, September 20 for all four classes.
Class of 2023 - Class Elections and Student Council
- Just a reminder to all freshmen that are interested in running for class officers…your nomination papers are due to my office no later than 2:00pm on Friday, September 13, 2019. Elections speeches will take place on Friday, September 20! Let the campaigning begin!
- All members of the Class of 2023 that are interested and planning on joining Student Council this year please attend the Student Council Kick-Off for Grade 9 on Wednesday, September 11 from 7:00 – 8:30pm in the MHS Cafeteria! You do not want to miss out on learning how to become a leader with the MHS Student Council!
- All representative nomination papers are due back to Mr. Branagan NO LATER than Friday, September 20, 2019 by 2:00pm.
Fall Open House - September 10, 2019 - 6:30pm
The MHS Fall Open House will take place on Tuesday, September 10, 2019 from 6:30 – 8:00pm. The official welcome will begin at 6:30pm in the MHS Auditorium. We look forward to seeing many families at the high school to celebrate the opening of another school year! See you there!
Speech and Theater Workshop News
- Speech and Theater Workshop will be holding auditions for the Fall Play, “The Crucible” on Tuesday, September 10 and Wednesday, September 11, 2019 at 2:00pm in the Auditorium. Please see Mrs. Duggan with any questions.
- Also, please join STW at their annual Freshman Welcome Coffee House, which will be held on Thursday, September 12, 2019 at 6:00pm in the Black Box Theater.
Class of 2020 – Senior Trip to Florida – April 2020
Just a reminder that the Senior Class Trip to Florida is happening and you do not want to miss it. Deposits (if not already paid) of $100.00 is due to Mr. Branagan no later than Friday, September 27, 2019.
Information regarding the trip is located in the main office and from Mr. Branagan.
Attention all MHS Students – Stay in Shape and Make a Difference
- Attention all off-season athletes and anyone looking to improve their fitness level. Sign-up for after school strength and conditioning with Coach Dyer on Family ID. The program is free and open to all students
- Also, if you are looking to make a difference in the lives of someone else and have a great time doing it…then sign up to be a part of the Middleborough High School Unified Basketball Team. Be a unified partner! Sign-up on Family ID today or see Mr. Sylvia or Mr. Dizel with any questions.
Class of 2020 – YEARBOOK INFORMATION AND SENIOR PICTURES
- Seniors, please make sure you are checking your email for the information regarding senior pictures and senior photos. Everything will be done electronically, including the senior favorites and the senior superlatives.
- The deadline for submitting your senior portrait and your baby picture is October 25, 2019.
- Yearbooks will be available for online orders shortly, so please look out for a flyer from Jostens, which will be mailed home soon. This will contain online ordering information, in addition to the tiered pricing. The earlier your order your yearbook, the less expensive it will be.
