Weekly Newsletter from Principal Quattrucci

The Week of May 2nd

Thank you!

It was great to be back in school after being away for 10 days! I missed everyone!

Ms. Brenda was celebrated on Wednesday, which was Administrative Assistant's Day, but around here we celebrate Brenda EVERY day, because she is an amazing person who manages to solve problems before we even know that there are problems and keeps us all smiling no matter what!

Thank you to everyone who organized and attended our Everyone Can Learn and Love Math Night! It was a wonderful experience and I'm excited that every child (even if they did not attend) now has a brand-new math game to play at home.

Speaking of Math, thank you Grade 5 students, families and teachers, for a successful completion of the math portion of RICAS!

Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week

National Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week is May 2nd-6th! This is a great time to have your child acknowledge the people who make them smile and help them learn every day with some extra kind words or a little note of appreciation. We appreciate the PTA, who I know has something special planned, but of course I will not divulge any more details and ruin anyone's surprise!

National Nurses' Day

And we can't leave out Mrs. Farrell, who has gone above and beyond for all of us, making sure we are all safe and that all the children are cared for with diligence and love. Friday would be an excellent time to remind her how much she is appreciated.

Discovery Kitchen

On May 5th we will host a Discovery Kitchen Tasting Event at Cafe Greystone throughout all three lunches. The food will be prepared by the HS Production Kitchen and will be served by our district's Registered Dietician, Cheryl Caro, along with Chef Christine or Donna Humphries, Director of Dining Services. Students will be called up table by table on this day to try a food sample and learn more about the food that is served to them.

Wellness Week

Our district Wellness Week is May 23rd-May 27th. We will participate in a variety of activities, such as taking each time each day to reflect on gratitude, do some stretching and meditating, and we will have opportunities to play movement break bingo. Each class will also be assigned a different wellness topic to explore and be responsible for creating signage for the rest of the school to raise awareness on their given topic. For example, kindergarten will learn why it is important to eat fruits and vegetables every day, and then create drawings on construction paper (in school) encouraging others to eat fruits and vegetables. We will also encourage children to sign a "Healthy Habits" pledge and be visited by "Krazie Tracie!"

Caught Being Kind!

Sophia Graham, from Room 15, made bracelets with the "autism colors" for all the teachers in her brother's classroom.

Bhavatharini Sudhanva from Ms. Sharon's PreK has helped many of her friends by asking them to play with her and inviting them to sit down to do an activity together.

Aaradyha, Scarlette, Olivia, Anabelle, and David from Room 9 were all nominated for kindness awards by their substitute for being extra kind and helpful on Monday!

Cristian and Joshua from Mrs. Kovolski’s class have shown outstanding compassion and willingness to help others in many, many situations!

Thomas from Mrs. Waterman's class went over to a child who was sad and sat with him on the bench.
