The 2018 Governor’s Summer Reading Challenge is underway! Participation in the Summer Reading Challenge will support and enhance our ongoing efforts to help every student become a proficient, confident, life-long reader. The program will recognize schools for participation and the number of books read, as well as “Outstanding Public Library-School Partnerships.” Certificates will be awarded to schools with 100 percent student participation, and selected schools will be recognized in a special ceremony. This year’s theme for the Governor’s Summer Reading Challenge is “Libraries Rock!” We also encourage you and your family to visit the Warren Public Library and participate in their Summer Reading Program.
We encourage all students at every grade level to participate and to continue to grow as readers throughout the summer months.
Below are the important links for information on how to participate.

Summer Garden Maintenance
Warren students are readying the beds to sow seeds and transplant plants into Harvest of Dreams for its 17th growing season!
Through sustainable, organic practices the garden brings life-long, authentic learning into the lives of our students who work hard to collaboratively bring the garden to life. Warren School is very proud of its Harvest of Dreams garden. Since 2002, students, families, and staff have worked together to create a garden for students to explore curriculum objectives and environmental stewardship. Throughout the summer, the delicious, nutritious produce is enjoyed by those in need at area soup kitchens and food banks and by families maintaining the garden. Upon arrival back to school in the fall, students enjoy the freshly picked produce and the Warren community is invited to join us at our Harvest Luncheon to enjoy the dishes each class freshly prepared.
The outreach, celebrations, and success of the garden would not be possible without the help of families and community.
Summer Garden Maintenance,
As in the past, we are seeking families to sign-up for one week. (Consider sharing the week with another family!) If your family is able to help, please sign up here.
Manure, Mulch, & Soil
Our garden beds need to be topped with garden soil, amended with composted manure, and protected with mulch. If you can help with a donation and/or delivery of any of these items, please contact Alisa Wright (awright@rsd6.org)
Looking forward to another amazing growing season!
