Math Madness
In the Science Lab
This week in Science we will continue our lesson the Earth. Vocabulary words that students need to focus on are:
Weathering – the breaking down and wearing away of rock
Erosion – the movement of weathered materials by wind, water, or ice
Deposition – the process by which materials eroded by water, wind, or ice are dropped in a new place; forms deltas and beaches
Canyon – a deep narrow valley with steep sides and often with a stream flowing through it formed by erosion
The Reading Corner
Blast from the Past
Industry vs. Agriculture
Our students will be discussing how life in the Northern and Southern parts of the United States were very different in the years leading up to the Civil War. The biggest difference was in the economics of the two regions. The North relied on industry, while the South had an excellent agriculture economy. Understanding the geography of the two areas is vital to understanding why the two different economics developed.
