Week of February 27th - March 3rd
Principal's Pen
As we turn our calendars to the month of March this week, I’m reminded of the old saying; In like a lion, out like a lamb. Is March going to come gently in, and leave us with a turbulent ending, or will we be blasted early on and see a gentle ending? It’s exciting to think that spring is on the way, but let’s face it, it could be a long way off! Just as the ancient proverb helps us look to the lamb for brighter days, we, too, can look to The Lamb and know that our Lord is both the Lion and the Lamb. He is both powerful and gentle. He fights for us and He comforts us, He drives out evil and shields us with His love. He is both the storm and the calm; and He is faithful. And He calls us to draw near to Him.
He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress, My God, in whom I trust! Psalm 91:1,2
Perhaps you’re experiencing a time in your life when the storm seems particularly relentless, or the grey clouds seem to linger longer than the sun. Maybe the season you’re in has been darker than most, and you’re tired. Scripture points to these types of storms again and again, to remind us of God’s presence through the uncertainty and to give us courage and strength on our way. It’s during these times that God reaches out His hand and says walk with me. He speaks to us and says fear not. He sends His light to those darkest corners and the unknown becomes the known. He says be still and know that I am God.
As we turn the calendar to March, may we be encouraged by the promise of God’s faithfulness. Let us draw near to the One who holds the wind and the rain and the calm and the storm in His hands. Through it all, we can give thanks for God’s never-ending love, no matter our circumstances.
Have a beautiful week,
Sheila

Greetings from Grade One and Two,
Despite the short week last week, we packed in a lot of learning!
This week we will learn about fractions with playdough, learn the number line with a large
floor size model, continue mastering clocks and our math facts. We will write about all the
steps in of making hot chocolate and make some by ourselves. We will continue learning
about community helpers, preparing for the Celebration of Learning at the end of March.
Friday will be a special day for celebrating the 100th day of school alongside Miss Ashley’s
class. So much fun and learning this week!
Remember that we will continue studying the same word list in spelling for a test on Friday.
Awards will be given for readers who completed their February R.E.D. folder page for
independent home reading. Thanks for partnering with me!
Thanks for sending in labelled child sized water bottles for the week.
Have a fantastic week!!
Grade 2/3 with Mrs. Faiers
It's hard to believe we are nearing the end of another month! Between a snow day and our P.A. day last week, it had been quite a while since our class had the chance to have our Friday art period. The students were very happy that we were able to have our full hour dedicated to creating some beautiful work this week. We took some time to build on the Grade 2s’ learning about reptiles and create some pythons curled up in a tree. After their directed drawing, the class was painting in their pythons and some of them spontaneously burst into worship songs. It was truly a joyful way to end our week together, and such a blessing to see the students embracing creativity of all kinds!
