St. Michael Preschool News
Growing with God...
Dear St. Michael Preschool Families,
"I will give thanks to you, LORD, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds." Psalm 9:1
Happy November! As Thanksgiving approaches, I continue to reflect on how much we have to be thankful for- a joyful and safe Catholic preschool where we can play, learn, and celebrate our faith, loving and dedicated teachers who share their many God-given gifts, our St. Michael Parish clergy who are eager to support the children's growing faith, supportive and generous parents who partner with us to enrich their child’s preschool education, and the children whose smiling faces and joyful hearts brighten each day!
The teachers and I are especially excited about some of our upcoming events that you will see highlighted in this newsletter. Please look for details about the Virtual Scholastic Book Fair, annual Christmas Sing-Along, and the new St. Mike's Tikes Drive-through Nativity. We hope you find these events a festive way to kick-off the holiday season. Thank you for your ongoing support, and “I pray that the fellowship of our faith may become every good thing which is in us through Christ.” Philomen 1:6
In Christ,
Lisa Ciesla
Preschool Director
IMPORTANT REMINDERS
LET'S WORK TOGETHER TO KEEP OUR COMMUNITY HEALTHY!
Due to the resurgence of the COVID-19 cases in North Carolina and our country, it is extremely important that we continue to remain vigilant in our efforts to keep our community healthy. Please note that on November 10, 2020, the NC Department of Health and Human Services updated its preschool operating guidelines in the Childcare Strong NC Public Health Toolkit. Please read the updated Daily Health Screening Questions and guidelines for Returning to Child Care. It is the responsibility of the parent/caregiver to understand and follow all protocols.
Exclusionary COVID-19 symptoms of fever, cough, shortness of breath/difficulty breathing, new loss of taste/smell remain the same. However, scenarios now include detailed information about results based on the type of COVID-19 test (antigen vs. PCR) and length of quarantine when there is a case of COVID-19 inside a household.
Whatever your family’s plans are for the holidays, we ask that you continue to remain cautious and take steps to minimize risk. NCDHHS has released guidance for the Thanksgiving holiday, which can be found HERE. If your family travels during the holidays and you plan to keep your child home for a few days before returning to school, please let your child’s teacher know.
IMPORTANT REMINDER: ALL ADULTS on St. Michael Campus must wear a face mask when dropping off or picking up their child. Thank you for your attention to this requirement. Although face coverings are not required by the health department for preschoolers, as we enter cold and flu season, you may choose to have your child wear one. If you decide to send your child to preschool with a mask, please ensure they have had time to practice with it and are comfortable and independent in wearing it for the 3-hour day.
The St. Michael Preschool teachers and staff are very grateful for your continued cooperation in following our health and safety requirements. Be assured of our prayers for good health for you and your family.
Snack Allergy Policy
- Children will bring their own snack to school. We ask that it be just one or two items that can be easily enjoyed by your child.
- Snacks may NOT contain peanuts/nuts or peanut/nut products. This includes foods that have been produced/processed in a plant with nut products.
- Avoid potential choking hazards - all grapes, cherries, and mini tomatoes need to be cut in half. Popcorn and hard candy are not permitted.

St. Michael Preschool Christmas Programs
Due to the on-going health department requirements and restrictions on large gatherings, we will not be able to gather together in-person for our annual Christmas Programs. However, we want you to know that Miss Karen and the teachers are still planning to record individual class sing-alongs that will be emailed home for the whole family to enjoy together. We continue to pray for the day when we can all be together again for these special celebrations.
WHAT'S NEW?
Music & Movement with Miss Karen
Hello Preschool families!
I wanted to let you know what is happening in music class this month! As we approach Thanksgiving, we are singing about turkeys and being thankful. We have been singing and dancing to the "Turkey Pokey" and "Any Turkey Can Tango!" We are also singing, "If You're Thankful and You Know It". The children have been playing the maracas too! Make your own maracas with some rice or dry beans in a plastic container! Any questions for me, please just send me an email at kallen@stmcary.org. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your beautiful families!!!
