Ground Hog Job Shadowing Day - February 1
For 7th and 8th grade Parents/Guardians:
On Friday, February 1, 2019, our Lexington School District One 7th and 8th grade students are invited to participate in National Groundhog Job Shadowing Day!
National Groundhog Job Shadowing Day is a nationwide initiative that encourages professionals to provide job shadowing experiences for students. It is a program designed to give students the opportunity to experience the world of work outside of the classroom. Students will “shadow” workplace mentors as they go through a normal day on the job to better understand the requirements of a particular job or career. Students see firsthand how the skills learned in school relate to the workplace. This experience supports career exploration, an area our district supports from elementary through high school.
This year, our 7th grade students may job shadow a parent/guardian or a relative and 8th grade students may job shadow an individual who is working in a career area of interest. Please encourage your student to take advantage of this opportunity to experience work-based learning that allows them to gain exposure to careers/jobs that they find interesting and fulfilling! If your student chooses not to participate in a job shadowing experience, they will be able to virtual job shadow during the day at school.
7th grade students - Choose a parent/guardian or relative to job shadow who works in a career area that you would like to explore.
8th grade students - Choose an individual to job shadow who works in a career area that you would like to explore. Contact them and ask for their permission to job shadow.
Most of our parents/guardians in the district have already given Parent Permission to participate in this program during Online Registration. IF you register using the link below and have NOT given permission, I will contact you.
Please register here for National Groundhog Job Shadowing Day!! The LAST day to register is January 25th.
