We will continue our author study of Shel Silverstein this week through the study and performance of several more poems. The kids are loving this unit and doing some amazing work with this genre.
Writing
We will focus on functional "how to" writing all week. For example - how to make a sandwich, how to blow a bubble, how to make soup, etc....
Math
In the beginning of the week, we will finish our telling time unit. Students are expected to be able to read an analog and a digital clock to the hour and half hour. In small group, we will learn about elapsed time.
Students continue to work on identifying coins, showing different ways to represent amounts of money, and counting collections of coins. Please keep practicing this skill at home.
Social Studies
On Monday, we will compare two great Presidents - Abraham Lincoln and George Washington. On Tuesday we will compare these leaders to the leaders of today.
Our focus will then turn to economics - learning about making choices.
