Paw Talk: Keys to Excellence

Week of May 16th-May 20th

Principal's Message: A Great Last Week

During my blog readings this week, I came across a blog post from Craig Vroom that coincidentally resonated with me. His son asked him one morning as he dropped him off for school, "Do I have to go to school the last week?" The same thing happened to me. Both my daughter and son asked me the same thing the other day. Of course my answer was, "Yes!" Like Craig, I asked my kids why they didn't want to go to school the last week and just like Craig's son, my kids said, "Because we don't do anything the last week." This made me sad to know that they felt this way. This also made me start thinking about our own students. Would they want to come to school the last week? Will they feel engaged and feel like it will be a great last week? My belief is that they will! I am confident that amazing things will continue in our classrooms until the last bell! These last 18 days are a great opportunity to review key standards and incorporate some fun reflections like whether or not they met their goals, what kind of summer growth they are planning for, create and play Kahoot review games, try something new and more. I've already seen some great reflection activities in classes. The ideas are endless!

For this week's Haiku page, the question is: "What great and meaningful activities can you try or incorporate until the last bell on June 10th?" This is a great opportunity to learn and gain ideas from each other. I look forward to reading all the great ideas you have planned!
