PANTHER PRESS
December 22, 2020
Thank you for giving us the opportunity to educate your children this fall. We are almost halfway through this school year, and we are so grateful for your support and partnership! It seems like the perfect time to take a break, appreciate all that this year has taught us, and relax for a few days.
We wish your family a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! We look forward to seeing you in 2021!
Be well~

Covid-19 Reporting Form
In an effort to better respond to families and streamline the reporting of COVID-19 cases, the Knoxville Community School District has created a new Google form for parents to use. We ask that parents or guardians complete this form if their child has tested positive or has been exposed to a positive case.
You may access the form at this link: https://forms.gle/bdXnZbHkegqo4p918
In addition to completing this form, we ask parents/guardians to contact their students’ coaches or sponsors if they are involved in 7th- through 12th-grade extracurricular activities.
Finally, please note that anyone who has been exposed to COVID-19, but has not developed any symptoms, may return to school after Day 10 of their quarantine. These students will not be able to participate in extracurricular activities until after Day 14, but they can come back to school and attend activities—they just cannot participate until after Day 14.
We appreciate your support as we work to serve the needs of our students and families during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Friendly (Non-Covid) Reminders From the Nurse:
9th grade students: a dental exam is required for 9th grade. Please: turn in a dental form for your 9th grader by January 15, 2021 if he/she has had an exam and you have not turned in a form; call your dentist and ask them to fax the completed form to school. An exam within the past year will work. If your child hasn't had an exam for awhile, now is the time to make an appointment. Thanks!
Kindergarten: An eye exam and a dental exam are required for Kindergarten. If you have not turned in the forms, please do so. Call your dentist and/or eye doctor to have them fax the forms to school. If your child hasn't been to the dentist or eye doctor, please make the appointments now. Thanks!

News from the Transportation Department
As winter approaches I would like to remind parents and students to be aware of slick spots when approaching, loading and unloading the bus. Take small steps and don’t run to the bus.
I am going to share the link for Hard Surface pickup stops and times if needed this winter. This can also be found on the District website under Transportation.
BUS SAFETY RULES
Wait quietly for the bus, stay a safe distance from the road.
Keep out of the Danger Zone, which is 10 feet all around the bus.
Stay in your seat.
Don’t put anything out the window.
Keep your school bag and other belongings out of the aisle.
Keep your mask on at all times.
No food or drink on the bus.
Respect the driver and other bus riders.
Wait your turn to get on or off the bus.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from the KCSD Transportation Department.
