JAGUAR UPDATE

Sunset Valley Elementary 11/3/17

Jaguar Corner

Hello Jaguars!

-THANK YOU to Mrs. Boehm, Mrs. Paul, Special Class Teachers, and parent volunteers who made our Fall Party Day a HUGE SUCCESS! The kids had a GREAT TIME, and I continue to find corn kernels in the hallways of SVE. Haha!

-ALERT! The lil' Jaguars, at lunch, are discussing how to hide their halloween candy from moms, dads, brothers, and sisters!!!

-Remember to turn those clocks back!

-Don't forget about the SVE Student Council Fundraiser at Panera Bread!

-Thanks for your focus on student safety in the car line each day. Please remember to pull your car all the way forward when directed by a staff member. Thank you!!

-No school for the lil' Jaguars on Tuesday, November 7!

-Hour of Code is happening December 4-10. Kids love coding!!

-Mrs. Morris and Ms. Shrout are collecting leftover Halloween candy to send to our troops at home and abroad! If you have candy you would like to donate, please bring the candy to the SVE office no later than Wednesday, November 8th.

-Veterans Day is Saturday, November 11! The Jaguar Update for next week will be dedicated to honoring our current and former veterans! Many restaurants in the Kansas City Metro provide discounts and specials on Veterans Day. The list of participating restaurants can be found here.

-The nightly news makes me wonder sometimes what the world will look like for my kids when they are adults. I am reminded that SVE, LSR7 and Public Education is first rate. We have so many positives: fantastic kids, awesome families, amazing teachers and staff. This is a great formula for STUDENT SUCCESS! Are we perfect? No. However, our kids are our foundation for the future, and the R7 community makes me very proud. Stay involved in your child's education. Partner with your child's teacher, school and PTA. Together, we will make a positive difference in the lives of our kids.

Counseling Update!

We live in a great community. There are local agencies that can help those in need for the holidays. Community Holiday Assistance.

Project Lead The Way!

Our students in grades K-5 are learning LOTS about Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics! Students in 3rd grade are using the Vex Kits to create structures following a design pattern. Students utilize Samsung Tablets to view 3D instructions, then work as a team to assemble the project! LOTS of thinking, planning, and TEAMWORK! Real world stuff! THANK YOU SVE Staff for your support of this great initiative for our students! You guys are awesome!!

Box Tops!

Mrs. Rader’s and Ms. Welch’s classes won the October 2017 Box Top collection! Each of their classrooms will receive a $25.00 gift card to use for their students. SVE students turned in a total of $244.00 worth of Box Tops! The next collection will be in mid-December 2017. Thanks for your continued support!
