Counselor's Updates for 7th grade Tracks 2 and 3

Meet Your Child's Counselor

Greetings to you!

I am Tonya Blake Baker, the School Counselor for all of Track 2 and 6th and 7th Grade Track 3. I was born and raised in Concord, North Carolina. Concord is outside of Charlotte where we are known for Concord Motor Speedway, the Wolf Lodge and Concord Mills Outlet. I am a graduate of North Carolina State University and chose to be a counselor because I enjoy working with youth.

I am here to assist you and your child through this nervous but exciting journey! I am looking forward to working with you this year!

Please feel free to contact me at tbaker2@wcpss.net or (919) 570-2279.

Classroom Guidance via Interact Agency

Interact Agency

As adults, we can all agree that there is too much violence in the world. In an effort to educate our students on how to build better relationships, assist them in making positive choices and empower them to lead healthy and violence-free lives, I have arranged for a speaker from Interact to present information on the following topic:

Resisting Peer Pressure

Learning how to be powerful in positive ways in relationships (both online and in person)

Loving Yourself, Valuing Others

Learning about healthy coping choices, developing self-efficacy, representing yourself in relationships in positive ways (both online and in person)

Classroom Guidance with Mrs. Baker

Greetings Parents

I have finally met all of my 7th graders on Tracks 2 and 3. I taught a lesson for both Tracks on the Importance of Homework. Your child should be able to define what homework includes. The students learned a little about me, and I also asked for them to tell me a little about themselves. A small survey was completed and I will form groups and develop more classroom lessons based on that information.

The next two lesson topics will be Stand Up Against Bullying during National Bully Prevention Month and Standing Tall: Learning Assertiveness Skills.

I am enjoying working with your children!

Feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.
