Parent Positive Series
We are excited to announce a newly formed collaboration between the Central Bucks School District, CB Cares, CB YMCA, and the Doylestown Hospital. Through this collaboration, we are hosting five parent sessions titled, Parent Positive: Partnerships creating a healthier, stronger community.
Jason Komasz, MD, Pediatrician and Lead Pediatric Hospitalist of Doylestown Health's Della Penna Pediataric Center is this month's speaker. The discussion will focus on getting a good night's sleep, healthy eating and balancing activities with family time. Leave with practical advice on developing a healthy family routine.
Dr. Komasz’s presentation will be held in the Lenape Middle School Auditorium on Thursday, February 18th and will begin at 7:00 pm. Nutrition Expert Debbie Davis, RD, LDN, MBA, and Licensed Psychologist Gail Karafin, Ed.D. will join Dr. Komasz for a Question & Answer session.
Babysitting for children in Kindergarten through 6th grade is available. Pre-registration is required if babysitting service is needed. Register online or call 215.345.2121.

New Playaway AudioBooks Have Arrived In The Library
Thanks to funding provided by a CB Cares Foundation Innovative Learning Grant, our library has added 15 new Playaway audio book devices to our collection. Any fifth or sixth grade student can check Playaway devices out of the library, provided they signed the parent permission slip at the beginning of the year (additional copies are available at the library). These audio books, which are housed on dedicated MP3 players, allow students to access models of fluent reading, for struggling readers to access material that is talked about and loved by their peers, and encourage students to take risks into new reading material. In just five days, we have checked all but 2 of our new Playaways out of the library and have waiting lists for several of them. Please contact Mrs. Thomas at email@example.com if you have any questions or would like to know more about this program!
Read Across The Community: A Kindergarten Literarcy Event!
On March 3, a group of 6 community helpers will be volunteering to spend time with our Kindergarten students to read and talk about their role in the community. We are working with the Doylestown Bookshop to offer each student the opportunity to purchase a book that will be signed by our visitors as a souvenir of this special day. Click here for the book order form. Book orders for this event are due THIS THURSDAY!
This year, Gayman will continue to accept nominations for the Boomerang Award, which is our way of honoring students who best demonstrate their own developmental assets. What are Developmental Assets? Students possessing a combination of “40 Assets” are typically most successful in school and in life. These assets have the power to influence choices young people make and help them become caring, responsible adults. For a complete listing of the 40 Developmental Assets visit: www. Search-institute.org.
February #27. Equality and Social Justice. Young person places a high value on assisting those who may need a helping hand. Equality-equal rights for all people. Boomerang nominations may be emailed to Suzanne Vass at firstname.lastname@example.org, or printed out and sent into the office.
