Elkton Elementary School Memo
May 31, 2021
NO SCHOOL Tomorrow- May 31st- Memorial Day
A Note from Mrs. Palmer
Dear EES Families,
We are at the end of the school year and this will be the last EES Memo until August. I want to thank you all for your support and patience shown these past 10 months. We had successes and some challenges, yet despite all, we continued the work that had to be done to ensure the safety and educational needs of our students. There are countless people to whom I owe an expression of gratitude and hope that we continue working together.
We had the opportunity to learn how to teach and conduct meetings virtually.
It was all a learning curve, but I feel everyone did the best they could.
I would like to thank our hard working and caring staff who made a huge difference to our students. Their commitment is outstanding and our kids are the beneficiaries. Thank you to the staff for providing rich and engaging, well-rounded experiences for our kids and knowing that education is about wonder and fostering curiosity, along with development of social skills so needed to succeed. Our students are much more then a test score.
Several staff members are either retiring, resigning, or transferring to another school.
- Retiring- Mrs. Wallace (Kindergarten), Mrs. Baugher (Nurse), Mrs. Talbot (Librarian)
- Resigning- Mrs. Richards (Assistant)
- Transferring- Mrs. Lauren Shifflett to SRES, Mr. Justin HItt to Wilber Pence, and Mrs. Francis to CRES.
Mrs. Harper will be applying for an administrative position within the county. We have enjoyed having her in our school and will miss her so much.
In closing, I'd like to take this opportunity to congratulate our Fifth Graders for completing elementary school. I wish you nothing but the best as you move onto middle school. To all our students, I hope you have an enjoyable summer. Please be sure to take time as a family to talk, play, and read some good books.
I wish you well...
Mrs. Palmer
