Welcome to the World!

I am happy to announce that Ms. Hart's new baby boy has arrived. Weighing in at 8lbs, 12 oz, Ratlin Orion Johnson was born on Friday, January 15 at 7:57am. Congratulations Ms. Hart! We'll miss you!

RSP Collaboration Reminder

This is a friendly reminder that each teacher should be collaborating with the RSP team in order to ensure that our students are receiving the support they need. Middle school teachers, please remember that you have a stand in time with Mr. Alvarez that is to be a dedicated discussion about how we can support the students. If you have forgotten what time you are scheduled or have not signed up, I have included it below. Elementary teachers, Mr. Garcia will continue to reach out to you on a regular basis to ensure you are collaborating about what's best for our elementary students.

Vista Openings - Tell Your Friends!

As you know, we are still on the hunt for some rock-star long term substitutes for Ms. Hart and Mrs. Ekmekji. We have found that our best candidates are often referred by the people currently on our staff. We also have a 5th grade position available. If you know of anyone who may be interested, please have them send their resume and a brief cover letter directly to me. These teachers will be missed, but we are confident that we can find some stellar people to fill their roles for the time being.

Peer Observations

We are so excited to be bringing back Peer Observations. Remember that you are asked to complete at least one 15 minute observation a month starting now. You can observe anyone you want this month! Please find the form at the bottom of this newsletter.

Beauty and the Beast Auditions (3rd-8th)

Let's encourage our kiddos to audition for this year's production of Beauty and the Beast. Auditions for 3rd-8th grade students will be held on Saturday, January 30 from 11:00-1:00pm at View Park Prep High School (Room S26). This is a GREAT opportunity for our students to get involved and show their talents.

Trait of the Month - Citizenship

Making your community a better place by your actions and contributions

Here is a link to the google doc:

Student of the Month Submission

Word of the Week

(n) a firm decision to do or not to do something.

Instructional Focus - Behavior Expectations (2.2)

With a new year, comes new beginnings and fresh starts. It also comes with a need to reinforce routines and procedures to secure a strong second semester. Remember to go over class rules and expectations and to practice routines and procedures just as you did with your students at the beginning of the school year. For those of you first year teachers, you'd be surprised what students may forget over a 3 week period.

Supervision Reminder

We are still looking for extra help on the yard (major shout-out to those of you who have already volunteered!) A few reminders for when you're on watch:

  • Be super VISIBLE (walk around, stay standing, avoid being hidden by students coming to speak to you)
  • Be super VIGILANT (really look around, walk over to groups of students that are huddled in the far corners of the yard, walk past the bathrooms several times, and please no cell phone use during supervision).

Supervision Schedule 3 - 8

1/28 - Vista Open House

1/29 - SOM/Fun Friday

2/1 - Performance Task Window

2/22 - Benchmark 3 Testing Window Opens
