Volume 2 ~ Issue 7 ~ Week of August 27, 2023

The Viking Spotlight is the part in my weekly newsletter used to highlight and celebrate our students and staff anytime we can! If you would like your child acknowledged for something they have accomplished, whether on campus or off-campus, please feel free to fill out this google form HERE. I look forward to celebrating our Vikings and all of the great things they are doing!

Message from the Principal 💛

Please take a minute to read the update at the link posted above. Due to the water restrictions being lifted, starting Monday morning, the district will reopen the water lines to the sinks and water fountains. We will need some time to clear the pipes, so we will continue to utilize the handwashing stations, sanitizer, and water bottles for Monday. Once we get the all clear from the district, we will allow students and staff to resume using the water fountains and sinks. Thank you for your patience and understanding!

Parents/Guardians, Progress Reports come out this Friday which means on Thursday, August 31st, we will be having our first Coffee with the Principal! It starts at 8:30am in the cafeteria. We will have coffee, treats, and updates on all things MVA! Besides staying informed, two more perks of attending are that you'll earn your child points on 5-star and you'll get your child's Progress Report right when you check in! I hope to see you there! 😊 Can't join in person? No problem! We will be streaming the meeting live on Zoom, so log in from your phone or computer wherever you are! More details in the flyer below!

Are you ready for another Music Monday?? 🎶 Congratulations to Mr. Ceniceros' Advisory class for winning last week's Music Monday! Who will be our next winner?!?!

Let's make it a great week, Vikings!!

📑 Progress Reports come out this Friday!! 📑

It's hard to believe we are in the last week of the first quarter of school! Our first Progress Report of the year comes out this Friday so I wanted to talk about how our Viking students can use this information to drive you into the second quarter.

  1. If your Progress Report has good grades and you are happy with that, then great job! Keep up the great work! But why stop there? Try to challenge yourself a little more to turn that B into an A-!
  2. If your Progress Report has low grades, this is your wake up call! You can still improve and get your grades up for the next quarter. Start with basics...complete all of your assignments! Then attend tutoring after-school or on Saturdays to get help with things you don't understand. You can do anything you put your mind to!

Parents, the best thing you can do to help your child improve their grades is to stay informed! Check Jupiter Grades regularly to make sure your child stays on top of missing assignments. If you have any questions, reach out to the teacher. Together, we can help your child succeed!

Join us for Viking Shadow Day on Friday, September 8th!

After you receive your child's Progress Report this Friday, you will have a better idea of where your child needs the most support. We encourage all parents to attend our Viking Shadow Day on Friday, September 8th. This will provide you with an opportunity to shadow your child through their classes and be a middle schooler for a day! You can stay an hour, two hours, or the whole morning, if you'd like, whatever fits your schedule! Please RSVP at this link HERE and we hope to see you there!

Labor Day - Monday, September 4th - SCHOOL CLOSED!!

In honor of Labor Day, school will be closed next Monday, September 4th. Labor Day recognizes the labor movement, and the efforts of the working-class population often left unnoticed and unappreciated, despite playing a major role in the economy of the world.
