Success Academy Creed
C-College and Career Readiness by
S-Skills for Success
Everything we do, everything we stand for should be guided by our desire for all Success Academy students to be college and career ready. As a staff we should be united and work collaboratively to achieve this goal.
Hispanic Heritage Month
September 15 - October 15
Paying tribute to the generations of Hispanic Americans who have positively influenced and enriched our nation and society. The celebration starts mid-month because Sept. 15 marks the independence anniversary of five countries: Costa Rica, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala. It is followed by Mexico's Independence Day on Sept. 16 and Chile's on Sept. 18.
This year's theme is Unidos: Inclusivity for a Stronger Nation. Our diversity is our strength, and our contributions to the culture, the economy, and the future of our nation cannot be denied. We are a varied community, from many different areas and climates.
The Zapotec peoples are credited with being the brains behind most everyone’s favorite movie snack – popcorn. Afterwards, it fell into the hands of Spanish conquistador Hernán Cortés by way of the Aztecs. These popped kernels were known as momochtli.
We can thank Mexico for the invention of chewing gum. First stumbled upon by the Mayans, who extracted the sap that was originally used to make chewing gum (‘chicle’) from trees, the Aztecs found a more practical use for it – they used the sticky substance to hold things together.

Student Code of Conduct
In the Fayette County Public Schools, we are committed to teaching the whole child and we recognize that academic and social-emotional success go hand in hand. Ensuring a safe and respectful learning environment where everyone feels welcomed and valued begins with setting explicit expectations for how we will treat one another at school.
Just as teachers set clear classroom expectations for student learning, the Fayette County Board of Education has adopted policies to set districtwide expectations. The purpose of the Student Code of Conduct is to communicate all the district policies related to student behavior in a single document. Developed with the input of students, families, teachers, and administrators, the guidelines follow law and policy, communicate the high standards we have for students, explain the process that staff members follow when issues occur, and outline consequences for misbehavior.
For the first time this year, the Student Code of Conduct is moving to an electronic format. This shift was based on the work of students in the Go Green Club at Henry Clay High School, who surveyed students across our district about how they use the document. To ensure everyone has access, the Student Code of Conduct will be available in multiple languages on the desktop of the Chromebooks issued to every student in FCPS. Paper copies are also available by requesting one here or by calling 859-381-4100.
