FALCON FLASH
A few Notes from the Falcon's Nest - August 2018
Dear Forest Elementary School Families,
WELCOME TO THE 2018-2019 SCHOOL YEAR!
I am extremely excited to welcome everyone to our new school year! I hope that you had a wonderful summer and that you spent quality time with family and friends!
This summer has flown by! Our district has been busy all summer long getting ready to welcome new teachers, new families and everyone returning as part of our D62 community this year.
For me, this summer was filled with great learning opportunities and fun quality time with my family! Early in July, I had the opportunity to attend the Discovery Education Network Summer Institute in North Carolina. During my time at this conference, I had the opportunity to learn, share and connect with educators from all over the world. I take these opportunities to reflect on my own practice, connect with educators and share ideas and resources to continue supporting the growth of our students, staff, and community.
I also had a wonderful time with my family, as we took a road trip to visit relatives in Canada. It's always refreshing to disconnect from work and have fun with my daughter and husband. We have also spent the last couple of weeks preparing for Kindergarten! It is so exciting to share this journey with all of you, as we also welcome so many new families and kindergarteners to Forest School this year.
Just hanging out in the countryside!

Pick-Up/Drop-Off Procedures
The Front Circle Drive is for drop-off/pick-up only, with drivers remaining in the car as students exit/enter the car on the sidewalk side, NOT for parking. When just dropping-off/picking-up students, please use the front circle drive and keep traffic moving to avoid any potential incidents with our school buses, other vehicles or pedestrians.
If you are walking, please remember to model safe behaviors when crossing streets.
Our parking lot is reserved for teachers and staff. Please use parking that is available on 5th Street & Forest Street.
Rest assured that we have many staff members working in these areas to make sure all our students are safe and getting to their destinations. Once again, thank you for all your cooperation as we work to keep the safety of ALL our Forest Elementary School Community.
~~ Sincerely,
Ania Figueroa, Ed.S.
