What do I do if a part of my gun breaks?
Well, there is a new invention called interchangeable parts! Instead of spending a fortune buying a whole new gun, you can buy just the new part you need. Inventor Eli Whitney came up with this exciting idea when our government asked him to make 10,000 guns in a short amount of time. Eli came up with the idea of interchangeable parts while in the process of mass production. Mass production is an efficient way of producing a large amount of items at a time. Lots of people will have the exact same product because of mass production. Whitney needed a way to mass produce the guns efficiently. Therefore, he came up with interchangeable parts. All the parts are exactly the same, so they will fit in with any other of the same gun. You could keep your gun for a long time thanks to interchangeable parts!
