SWITZER Update

Update from Mr. Palmer
We are in our final stretch for our FUND RUN. We are 5000$ away from turning the run into an inflatable run. Remember 50$ in donations gets you a T-shirt and 125$ in donations gets you a T-Shirt and a sweatshirt. If your teacher hits their class goal, they get an extra 100$ stipend for their classroom. The donation window closes next week and we appreciate your support.
Here is the plan for the October 20 Fund Run.
Grade levels will come out at their designated times. (see schedule below)
Classes will run/bounce for 45 minutes. They will then go have a popsicle and take a class picture before going back to class. There will be a volunteer sign up genius sent home next week, if we hit our goal.
Parents can come watch. We ask that they please:
1. Sign in at the office
2. Wave/high five from the coned area by the DJ.

October is here and it gives us the chance to enjoy cooler temperatures (maybe) and of course Halloween! Please remember that we have a half day on October 27th and 31st. On Halloween, classes have great activities planned and an outdoor parade at 10:30, weather permitting. I will be opening the gates so parents can park in the back field. The gates will close at 10:25. Remember that this is a school day so please leave inappropriate costume accessories (weapons, blood, swords) at home.
Some new calendar dates are hot of the press. Switzer will host conferences in the evening on November 6 and in the afternoon and evening on November 9. An email will come from me later this month to sign up for conferences.
Here are some events on the horizon.....
October 18: No School (Teacher PD)
October 20: Fund Run
October 27: 1/2 Day (Dismissal @ 11:29) Records TRUNK OR TREAT (see flyer below)
October 31: Halloween (Dismissal @ 11:29)
Looking forward to a great month!

SWITZER ELEMENTARY Drop Off Lane Procedure
For the safety of all Switzer students please follow our drop off procedure.
The drop off lane, designated in blue on the map (below), is intended for unassisted, curbside drop off. Vehicles should enter the parking lot and proceed to the ‘Welcome’ area. Students should quickly exit the vehicle. Students must exit out the passenger side/curbside only. Vehicles should pull forward and exit the parking lot. Arriving vehicles should continue to pull forward, allowing students to exit the vehicle in the ‘Welcome’ area.
Students that need assistance, parents should park in a parking spot as opposed to using the drop off lane. The student should be walked to the crosswalk by a parent.
TO KEEP OUR STUDENTS SAFE:
* Only drop off students in the designated area.
* Do not park or wait in the drop off ‘Welcome’ area at any time.
* Stay in the drop off lane and move forward in an organized manner.
* Do not drop off or park in any areas indicated with the red circle/car symbol. Occupying these areas will potentially stop the flow of the drop off lane traffic.
* Accompany students to the crosswalk if parking;
do not let students walk through the parking lot alone.
