Humanities Council events 2016-2017
The Humanities Council will sponsor four brown-bag lunches on humanities pedagogy this academic year. Our goal is to facilitate informal discussions among faculty interested in sharing ideas about teaching. We will meet in the Watauga River Room/PSU from 12-1PM on Fridays 9/16, 11/4, 2/10, and 4/21. Coffee, tea, and cookies will be provided.
Faculty will facilitate discussions on the following topics:
September 16th: Dr. Laura Ammon, Philosophy and Religion, "Your Syllabus and the Millennial Generation"
November 4th: Dr. Louis Gallien, Leadership and Educational Studies, "Starting Class with a Blank Syllabus: A Pedagogical Social Constructivist Approach to Teaching Interdisciplinary Courses"
February 10th: Dr. Howie Neufeld, Biology, "A Multidisciplinary Approach to Climate Change: Maintaining Enthusiasm and Interest among Students from a Variety of Backgrounds"
April 21st: Dr. Paul Gates, Communication, "Is there Freedom For the Thought We Hate?: Free Speech in the Classroom"
