Monthly Events Of Wildcats: JUNE 2020

Principals Message

Hello Wildcat families,

The 2019-2020 school year was like NO other that I've experienced in my 20 years in Pasco County Schools! I am so very proud of the students, parents and staff for working collectively to support the success of our school throughout the year.

The governor and education commissioner have not yet released guidelines about returning to in-class instruction at the start of the 2020-2021 school year. As we await further guidance from the state, Pasco County created this Thoughtexchange to discover your ideas and thoughts about what the District should consider as we plan for the return to in-school learning. Your feedback will help us identify key considerations to include in our return to school strategy. As we move through the summer and determinations of how the 20-21 school year will begin, communication will come from Pasco County Schools. I will post such information on our school website as well as social media posts.

I hope that each and everyone of you are able to take some time to rest and recharge over the summer. I encourage you to visit the TEWMS website through out the summer as it will be our key communication tool. In August, we will come together once again (in some manner) to ensure that the Wildcat students are successful.

Pasco County Schools is providing updated information here: I encourage you to click on each of the category pages for specific information: Academics, Distance Learning, Employees & Feeding Students. In addition, there is a "Frequently Asked Questions" section to assist families.

Let us know how a Wildcat has made a difference for you! Give them a shout out here.

Student Belongings

IF you were not able to come on campus on May 28 & 29th to return devices, pick up yearbooks, awards, etc. Please stop by the school on any TUESDAY in June. There will be a staff member in the front office from 10am - 2pm who can assist you.

Student Report Cards

Final report cards including 4th quarter & 2nd Semester grades will be available to families in MyStudent. We are currently working to process grades, and the District hopes to publish report cards by June 15th in MyStudent. As the date gets closer, we will update with any new information. Thank you for your patience! A communication from Pasco County Schools will be sent out when such is accessible.

Parents will access student progress reports and report cards through their MyStudent account. I highly recommend that you set up an account NOW so that you have full access to these reports as well as your students attendance, grades, test scores and class assignments. Register for a "Parent MyStudent" account. Here is a step-by-step video to assist you with this process. Please communicate with your child's teachers when you have a question, are looking for help, or have a concern about an assignment or their grades.

Extended School Year (ESY)

Our district’s Extended School Year (ESY) program offers opportunities to remediate skills, satisfy promotion requirements to high school, to recover middle school core courses, and/or close gaps for “on track” status in the Early Warning System (EWS).

For ESY 2020, students and staff will work through distance learning (virtually) from home. Device and wi-fi supports will be available from schools to ensure access for students how have been invited to participate in ESY. The ESY program offers course recovery for students who have taken a mathematics, language arts, science or social studies course previously, but earned an F. Eighth grade students will receive priority placement to ensure that we maximize promotion opportunities. Seats will be filled by 7th-grade students when we have availability. The program will run on the following dates: June 8, 9, 10, 11, 15, 16, 17, 18, 22, 23, 24, 25 and July 6, 7, 8, 9, 13, 14, 15, 16.

Online orientation videos for students will be available to assist students in accessing the APEX Learning platform. Teachers will offer phone, email, and Zoom support for students to ensure that they are comfortable in accessing their classes. Students and staff should have a daily check in scheduled via Zoom. Students will have access to complete lessons and lesson quizzes 24/7.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding ESY, please email Assistant Principal Mrs. Mira.

Summer Student Registration

Student registration for the 2020-2021 school year will be done virtually, via email. You can find the registration packet located on our schools' website - on the right hand side under the registration tab. Any questions can be directed to our Registrar Ms. Korte ( Once a family has completed the registration process, Ms. Korte will assign a school counselor, whom will sent up a zoom meeting with the family to review academic history and select courses for the 2020-2021 school year.
