Kolb Eagle Flyer
Message from Principal Clara Lee
Dear Kolb Families,
It has been a busy month here at Kolb! Our 5th grade students experienced Outdoor Ed, with a wonderful week of hiking, exploration and team-building activities at Camp Arroyo. We are so grateful to our parent volunteers and teachers who stayed overnight to make the trip a success. The excitement students expressed when they saw deer and wild turkeys up close was fun to watch. We also held an assembly teaching students the importance of recycling waste products. Student Council wrote and directed a short skit, teaching fellow students the qualities of someone who is trustworthy. Our upper grade students also had the chance to practice some yoga poses this month thanks to our parents who volunteered to lead them through thousands of cycles of sun salutations! Mindfulness and yoga are really gaining popularity in mainstream education as we recognize their benefits in helping our students focus, flexibility and strength.
We have some important dates to share with you. Next week, we have GATE testing on campus. 3rd graders will test on February 5 and 4th/5th graders will test on February 6. Please make sure that your students get plenty of rest the night before, and come on time to school those two days.
Some parents have been wondering also about State SBAC or CAASPP testing for our 3rd-5th graders. The testing window will be from approximately April 29 - May 24. Please do not schedule any trips at that time. We will get more specific testing dates to you as the dates get closer.
Thank you so much for your continuing support for Kolb.
Sincerely, Clara Lee
