Ranger News You Can Use! November 14, 2021
Message from Mr. Wahl, Principal
Dear Ranger Parents,
The below message is regarding bullying and harassing behaviors that can occur on a high school campus.
Bullying Is Not Tolerated at SVHS or Any Comal ISD School
Bullying can occur in many forms – with physical behavior such as fighting, hitting, or name-calling, or it can be covert, with social interactions or online with social media. In any instance, bullying is not tolerated at Smithson Valley High or at any Comal ISD campus.
According to the Comal ISD Student Code of Conduct, students who bully, cyberbully, or harass another student may be suspended or face other disciplinary action including school expulsion.
If your student is a victim of any form of bullying, please encourage them to report it through STOPit, Comal ISD’s anonymous bully reporting site. On the Stopit site, enter “Comal ISD” in the organization field and choose your school. Or they are encouraged to report any form of harassment to a teacher or administrator at their school.
In 2021, Smithson Valley High was designated at a No Place for Hate school. Through this program, a safety plan is created for any student who has been a victim of bullying or harassment to help them feel safe and successful again at school.

I appreciate your cooperation and commitment to providing a safe environment for all of our students at SVHS.
Thank you,
Mr. Wahl
Important Reminders for this week!
2) Thursday, November 18 - Please return blue Federal Impact Aid surveys to the front office no later than Thursday, November 18. (Students should have brought these home last week).
2) SVHS Offices closed starting Friday afternoon, November 19 thru November 26. Please pick up the Verification of Enrollment form (if your student is going to the DMV next week), and anything else needed from the front office before Friday at 2:45pm. Front Offices will reopen Monday, November 29th at 8:25am.
3) Lost & Found is located underneath the D Hallway Stairwell (in between the Front Office & Student Services). At the start of our Christmas Break, we plan to bag up and donate all items in the Lost & Found.
4) Lost and Found for smaller items is located in the Front Office (the receptionist area). If your student has lost any small items, please have them come by to see if their items have been turned in.

PLEASE SEND A WRITTEN NOTE WITH YOUR STUDENT TO RELEASE EARLY FROM SCHOOL
To have your student ready to Leave Early for an Appointment please see the following:
- #1 Send a written note with your student and have your student bring your note to the front office before school so that we may exchange your note for a Green Pass to Leave Campus.
- Or, #2 Call the Front Office 830-885-1000 as far in advance as possible, so that we may have a Green Pass written and delivered to your student's class. Sometimes it can take a while to process a pass for a student to leave, (especially during lunch times), so the sooner we know a student is leaving, we will be able to start the process.
- Please do not send an email to release your students. The front office receptionist is the main person who writes passes for students to leave and she is busy answering phones, greeting visitors, helping parents, teachers, students, etc and is not always able to check her email. We have had several parents who are sending emails to incorrect email addresses, or even to employees who may not be on campus or are in meetings. The best way to release your student is sending in a written note.
- Reminder: Phone Call check outs will be cut off at 4:05pm.
Are you Taking your Student to the DMV during the Thanksgiving Break?
The VOE (Verification of Enrollment) is one of the REQUIRED documents that your student will need when going to the DMV and this form is needed from the school.
Next week is our Thanksgiving Break and the school and front office will be closed. Please make sure that if your student has an appointment at the DMV, they should pick up their VOE in the front office before Friday at 2:45pm.
If your student already has a VOE, please check the issue date as they are only good for 30 days.
Please click on the link below which will take you to our SVHS Website to see all of the information and process to pick up a VOE.

In case you didn't know, these students argue cases like senators and representatives in Congress. It is very interesting, and a lot of hard work is put into their studies of legislation! They argue, negate, affirm and vote. These girls did an amazing job today and we are very proud of them!
