What Do We Need to Remember as We Start Back?
This is such an exciting time when we start back to school. Possibilities are endless and optimism is high...as they should be. What do we need to keep in mind as we work to have a great start to school? 1. Safety and security is our highest priority. All our procedures for arrival, dismissal, and activities during the day focus on those two areas. Please help us by following those guidelines we have already sent. Parents can park and walk their children into the school on Monday but all students need to be dropped off after that time. We will have lots of people available to help kids know where to go. Parents, you can certainly go ahead and drop off in the morning if you'd like. Parents walking their child into the school need to park in our parking spaces in the Cherry Road lot, the Sullivan Auditorium lot, or use other parking lots such as the ones in Cherry Park (The Park) or the Tennis Center and walk your child over. Please do not park anywhere in our car loops because we will have traffic moving. Also, for those walking in, please do that as quickly as possible so others can use your parking space. 2. Patience and grace are needed for all of us. As everyone gets used to new routines, we will all try our best but we won't get everything right the first day. Traffic lines are long on the first few days but they get better and better. Remember the rule of leaving five minutes earlier than you think you need to leave in the morning. For pickup, you may want to consider coming a little later than normal so you don't have to wait. Currently, we have 790 children we will welcome to school. We've done this before and we know it will take patience and grace to move to a better place each day. 3. Remember that everyone starts over. The good part of that statement is that slates are wiped clean and we all get to start over. That's true for big and little people. The hard part of that is we have to re-establish all those relational connections we had last year. We begin not knowing each other as well as where we ended in May. Keep that perspective in mind and realize the blessings and difficulties that come with starting over in a new year. 4. Little people do and say what they see the big people do and say. Our children follow our lead. If we have a positive and encouraging mindset to a new year, our kids will, too. If we approach the year with worry and frustration, our children will be the same way. We get to choose our mindset which sets the tone for the year. Let's commit to wisely choose the best attitude we can have so that we set our children up for success. We look forward to seeing you tomorrow. As I look back at the challenges of the past few years, I am firmly convinced this will be a great year. It is a blessing to be a part of the Cherry Park family.
Strength and Blessings,
Mr. Maness
Parents, as we work to get routines and procedures established, we ask that you wait until after Labor Day to visit for lunch. This gives your child time to get to know expectations and time to make new friends during lunch. Just like our homes, meal times help us connect with each other.
