SLEDDING to celebrate WUNDERBAR choices in our classroom!!!!
Dear Families,
Our class has "banked" two sets of WUNDERBAR successes in our classroom prior to Winter break in order to save them for a great snowstorm so that we could go sledding as a class. Mr. Macumber has given us the go-ahead to go sledding this week on WEDNESDAY at the Amana golf course.
Students need to wear snow pants and boots. I have a few extra pairs if needed. If your child has a sled (please label) they could bring or have dropped off at school, please do so on Wednesday.
Looking forward to a fun-filled, safe sledding day creating memories that will last a lifetime!
News from Ms. Hess
In math this week we are learning to divide decimals by exploring the movement of the decimal when a number is divided by a power of 10 and using compatible (friendly numbers) to help us make reasonable estimates when dividing decimals by whole numbers.
In literacy, we continue to integrate our study of explorers into the New World. We are working on determining importance when reading nonfiction by pulling out just the main ideas and details. Students are also reading outside sources and watching videos in order to develop their expertise.
In science, we capitalized on the sunshine and tracked the movement of our shadows throughout the day. This next week we will explore the relative size of our sun in relation to our planet and the moon as well as investigate the changes in the moon.
GIRLS will be tracking the movement shape of the moon each night starting this week. BOYS will do the same next week. The form for them to record their observations will be in planners starting tomorrow.
