Be the reason someone smiles.
Never forget:
You make a difference!
You matter!
Your students need you!

The Holidays have arrived at Hearne!
Welcome Back, Honeycomb!
If you find her around the building, don't forget to take a picture of her and tweet using the hashtag #HearneHoneycomb.
The first person to find her and tweet will receive a small treat.
Remember to spread kindness! Honeycomb is watching!
Hearne's Giving Tree--A Message from our Counselors!
Hearne’s Giving Tree Program will begin December 3, 2018. There will be a Christmas tree in our front office (old office) with student names (and siblings) hanging as ornaments. We are requesting that you would choose a name(s), and purchase a gift for that student. You can speak with the student to see what he/she may like, or you may just purchase something you think the student will enjoy.
Please deliver the gift(s) to the student(s)…..you may choose more than 1 student, the week of December 17th. I recommend that you NOT deliver on the last two days of that week because many students leave early for the holidays. If you need help with gift ideas, I would be glad to assist. Some examples of gift items could be coloring books, art supplies, books, toys, balls, board games, bracelets, dolls, etc.
Content and Language Objectives
Content objectives tell what you are teaching.
Language objectives tell how students will learn and demonstrate their mastery of the lesson using the 4 TELPAS domains (Listening, Speaking, Reading, Writing).
Remember, we are an ESL district and campus.
All classrooms should have Language Objectives posted each day.

If you see these wonderful ladies, please share the Husky smile and hug!
Congratulations to Mrs. Trobough and Ms. Langin on completing your student teaching at Hearne! It's not goodbye, it is we will see you soon!
We passed our annual Fire Marshall Inspection again this year!
Reminders for all staff--
- Make good decisions over the holidays – As a public school employee, all eyes are on you.
- All staff should be at work on time every day.
- Plan ahead to ensure you arrive to campus before your scheduled duty begins.
- The Raptor system has been moved to the front office (temporarily). The expectation is for all staff to use it daily to sign in and sign out.
- If the Raptor system is down, we will do a manual sign in sheet where you will record your time in and out.
- You cannot Raptor in and be at your assigned duty at the same time. Campus safety is everyone's responsibility. It takes the effort from all players for our team to succeed.
Our 2018-2019 Campus Goal
35% of our LEP 3rd and 4th grade students will score at a meets level and 15% of our 3rd and 4th graders will score at a masters level on STAAR tests through the use of language building strategies.
#MeetUsAtMasters
In order to achieve this goal this year and beyond, we are providing the proper training for all staff members so we can all be aligned as we tackle the Main Thing: Student Achievement.
Hearne is a Touchdown School! Thank you Mrs. Culver, Coach Brown, and Coach Bitting!
Student Data Folders Lunch and Learn
At our last team leader meeting, we discussed student data folders. These would be maintained from from January to January so it moves across grade levels. These folders will be maintained by all K-4 students and monitored by teachers. Our goal with this is to track iStation, iReady, and assessment data for all students. Teachers can use this as a tool for goal setting with students, student conferences about progress, campus data conversations, parent conferences, and our upcoming data/content night in the Spring semester.
The logistics:
Each grade level will receive a different color folder and a matching color milk crate for storage in the classroom. Handouts will be made available in January when we return from the holiday break.
The data folders will be updated as you deem necessary (every grade has various tests) but the campus will allow time the last day of each month for the last 25 minutes of the day. The crate will move to the next year’s teacher at the end of the year when classes are created.
Share your thoughts!
- Many teachers already have a data sheet they are using so we will be hosting a Lunch and Learn on Friday, December 14th from 10 AM-1:30 PM in the library so you can stop by and share your thoughts on the data tracking sheet we should use at Hearne.
- Everyone who stops by will be entered in a drawing for a gift card.
- If you have a sheet that you believe would be a great option for our campus, please share it with any administrator by Tuesday, December 11th via email or hard copy.
Bring your lunch between 10 AM and 1:30 PM and let's learn together!
Friday, December 21st will be an early dismissal day!
Staff will be able to leave once the building is cleared to ensure all students get home safely.
We are all excited to make it to this well-deserved break!
Things you should know:
- There is no Block all day. Only 4th grade will receive coverage for PLC.
- All technology should be shut down/disconnected as we did before the Thanksgiving break.
- All report card grades should be in the system.
- The administrators are hosting a luncheon for all staff in the conference room. Stop by and grab a bite to eat as a thank you for all you do!
The Administrators want to Thank You for a great semester on Friday, December 21st!
M and M Meetings Coming Soon!
