Friendly reminder that school starts at 8:15am, and we would love to see all students arrive between 8:00-8:10am. We appreciate your support in reviewing the importance of being on time to be an active and engaged learner who is ready to learn!
Breakfast Changes - beginning 4/18
Starting Monday, April 18th Slate Hill will be serving breakfast in the cafeteria. We will open the doors at 8:00am and serve breakfast until 8:10am. Students will walk through the line and grab a breakfast (not hot this year). As students finish they will be dismissed to the classroom. Students that miss breakfast will still have the opportunity to order a take home breakfast (except milk will not be sent home at the end of the day). Please contact the school if you have any questions (614-450-5000).

Spotlight On..... Mrs. Mumpower's SCLC Classroom!
This is my first year at Slate Hill, but it feels like I have been here much longer. It is a great school and so welcoming- I am so happy to be here! I have taught in Worthington Schools for 10 years. I have always had an SCLC unit and mostly worked with the primary grades, although I did spend 3 years in the SCLC at Thomas.
My favorite thing about teaching in the SCLC is that each student I get to work with is so unique. Each year, the students that we have come in with completely different skills and personalities. It makes every year challenging, interesting and exciting. I also love to be able to spend time in different grade level classrooms. We have our kids in with their classes as much as possible, which makes it fun to get to know all of the other kindergarten and first grade students and teachers.
Right now in the SCLC we are working on a transportation unit. We are building literacy and math skills through a unit that is exploring our community and the different modes of transportation we utilize. We are constantly working on social skills in our classroom and much of our day is devoted to navigating natural social opportunities in the school environment with our students.
So far this year, students in the SCLC have really enjoyed getting to know their kindergarten classmates and spending time with them. We just were able to attend a kindergarten field trip to Stratford Farms where the students were able to walk around and learn about a working farm as well as see and touch all kinds of farm animals. Our kids loved it!
