Borton Magnet Elementary Newsletter
January 19th, 2024 Edition
Hi Borton Community!
It has been so nice to see all our students back on campus! We do hope that you all enjoyed your winter break and are looking forward to the 2nd semester. We have so many great events and initiatives going on at Borton. Please make sure to read below for an updated Family Engagement Newsletter and other school updates. In addition, we do have a Cafecito coming up tomorrow and a PTA meeting next week. These are great places for our community to come together and have their voices be heard.
Thank you all for your support!
Mr. Eric

Borton's Annual Jump-A-Thon
Join us on Friday, January 26th in the courtyard for this year’s student-favorite event! Students will have approximately 45 minutes to reach their highest number of cumulative jumps. This is a teacher specific event during school hours, so please ask your child’s teacher about their start time. We welcome all volunteers to help turn jump ropes or count jumps! Please turn in pledge sheets in to your teacher or the front office at any time up until 1/26/24. Students will receive a special Borton Jump-A-Thon bracelet for ANY pledge sheet turned in. Students will be sent home with their number of jumps the week after the event. Payment can be turned into your teacher or the front office.
For the event, PK-2 classes will jump from 1:00-1:45, and then grades 3-5 will jump from 1:45- 2:30 in the courtyard.
Kinder Kickoff
Kinder Kickoff will be on Wednesday, February 7th at 2:30pm in the library. Please be on the lookout for more information soon.
PE Update
I just wanted to give you all an update about Mr. Adrian and PE. He is doing well, resting, recovering, and looking forward to returning to Borton ASAP. In the meantime, PE will still be on hiatus. I am currently working with the district to discuss substitute options.
Parent/ Teacher Conferences
P/T conferences will be on Thursday, February 8th and Friday, February 9th. These will be half-days with a 11:45 am dismissal. Please contact your students' teacher if you would like to schedule a conference.
The Impact of Reading 20 Minutes Per Day!
Studies show that reading with your child just 20 minutes a day will help them to be exposed to more that 1.8 million words per year!
Tax Credit Donation
The Borton Community relies so heavily on your generous donations through AZ tax credits. We wanted to let you all know that we received over $28,000 through tax credit donations last year. Your donations help to fund field trips, special events, athletics, yearbook, technical support and assistance, arts, music, and so much more. Please see the form in the attachment below if you are interested in making a donation. You can also call the office if you would like more information.
