Summer 2014

Our 3 College Summer Missionaries for Our OASIS Center

Brandon Parham, Angie Turner, and Hayden Roberts our our three Summer College Missionaries who will work full time out of our OASIS Community Center in Samoset all of June and July.

They need VOLUNTEERS to help! If you are a high school student or adult we'd like to talk to you about helping out an hour or more each week, or with special events along side our summer missionaries. The core of their ministry is recreation and sports outreach to elementary and young teens. But there are many other ways to help too. So if you like to play and love kids or teens, let us know! Here are the times they will be at the Center:

OASIS Summer Missionary Schedule (subject to change):
Monday morning/afternoon/evening until 7:30 or so
Tuesday afternoon
Wednesday morning/afternoon
Thursday morning/afternoon
Friday afternoon/evening until 8 or 9pm
Saturday late morning & early afternoon

Brandon Parham

Univ. of Georgia

Brandon is a Boy Scout Commissioner, which means that even as a college student, he supervises many scout masters. He loves the Lord and his life goal is to be a high school principal.

Angie Turner

Valdosta State Univ. Georgia

Angie is very active in women's basketball and soccer and loves sharing her faith and working with kids and young teens.

Hayden Roberts

Tarleton State Univ. Texas

Hayden loves playing and using sports as an outreach and serving on the Baptist Campus Ministry leadership team at Tarleton.

OASIS Center is Busy With Year Round Ministries

Did you know we partner with five ministries who operate free out of our Woodland OASIS Community Center in Samoset?
  • Monday nights is the Crusaders little league football and cheer "Spirit Night" mentoring. Our own Jose Macias created and is president of this outreach to Pride Park kids and young teens. There are three separate age-graded little league teams and a girls cheer squad.
  • Tuesday nights is the Haitian Youth Group with some 20-25 teens who spend up to two hours in Bible study and discipleship under the direction of Jessica DeRosier, a resident of Samoset.
  • Wednesday nights is our Spanish Church ministry Bible study and meal under pastor Andy Avalos
  • Thursday afternoon and evening is a Girl Scout troop led by to Christians who are administrators at Samoset Elementary, with the goal of mentoring neighborhood girls
  • Friday night is Sozo Ministries high school ministry, and Southeast High Fifth Quarters under the direction of Dwayne Parker (aka, Bishop Freeze) with as many as 50 teens. Dwayne is also a resident of the Samoset neighborhood.
  • Sunday evenings our Spanish Church has their primary worship service and meal under the leadership of pastor Andy Avalos.

Take State Road 70 to north on Highway 301 (near Walmart and Sams) and go two miles north on 301, then left on 30th Ave East, and left on 17th Street east to 32nd Ave. East.
