Staffing Updates
- Jessica Newsome will be shifting from 5-8 Assistant Principal to Director of the Learning Support team. Ms. Newsome has extensive knowledge of how to best support the needs of our students with learning and thinking differences and carries the certifications and qualifications to serve in this capacity. This change will allow the team to better support the needs of our students with IEPs.
- Kyle Forsyth will step in as interim 5-8 Assistant Principal. Prior to his time at High Point, Mr.Forsyth spent a lot of time teaching, coaching teachers, and leading instruction at Compass Academy, in Denver. He will step into this role with knowledge of our students and is excited to work alongside our teachers to provide an excellent instructional experience for our students.
- Steven Roland will now serve as the interim Elementary Dean. Steven brings a deep commitment to restorative practices and is excited to consider how the proactive systems that a Dean puts in place can support the restorative justice work that is needed when there has been harm done to someone in our community. Steven brings passion, commitment, dedication, and servant leadership to this role.
In addition to these changes, we welcomed the following new members to the High Point Academy team!
- Kacy Tubbs, Case Manager for Special Education on the learning support team.
- Krista Snow, Building Substitute
- Tammy Schoenhals (Starting October 3rd), Lead Kindergarten teacher in Ms. April's/Ms. Fletcher's room
Employee of the Month
Strategic Planning: Next Steps
Thank you so everyone who came out for the first strategic planning meeting. We used the appreciative strategy to think about what is possible for High Point. What if we had a million dollars and could spend it on anything? What would we share with someone who had no context for the school? All of the information that was shared in this meeting will be compiled and used to move to the next step of the strategic planning process which is discernment and evaluating all the ideas for the best right answer or best next steps.
As we continue through this process, our goal is to become clear on what our areas of focus are to be the best for our students moving forward. If you are interested in joining this group and would like to be a part of the process for planning our next steps to keep growing and improving as a school! The next meeting will be October 1st, from 9:00-12:00 at High Point Academy.

2. Why didn't I get a text? We do our best to keep you informed about what is happening! If you provided us permission, you should have received a text about this as well as an email. If you did not receive a text and want to, please reach out to info@highpointacademy.net.
