The Life of Cherokee
The Cherokees weren't originally from Texas. They moved to Texas in 1823, and they lived in the east part of Texas. The Cherokee Indians lived in river cane and plaster houses with thatched roofs. The Cherokee women usually harvested beans, squash, and sunflowers, and they also gathered berries. Cherokee women wore moccasins and the Cherokee men wore breech clothes and leggings. The Trail of Tears was name for the removal of the Cherokee people from their land.
