The Connection Week 10 Term 2

Huapai District School 8th July 2021

PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

This week, in our staff meeting, we reflected on the term. There were well over 50 different events that have been happening throughout our school over the last ten weeks and this did not include any of the outstanding teaching and learning happening within the classrooms! As you know, Huapai District School is committed to providing these wider opportunities for all our students and you have been a major part of many of these; for this we thank you. We continue our wider opportunities next term as we approach camp season.

At the end of this term we say farewell to Ana Taione and Breanagh Chisnall with our very best wishes. We warmly welcome back John Petrie from sabbatical and are delighted to have Jason McKearney and Kirstin Robinson join the team.

As any good trainer will tell us, rest and recovery are as important as work. It is now time for our students (and staff) to rest, recover from the longest unbroken term in 18 months, and prepare for the exciting new adventures ahead.

On a personal note, both Keryn and I would like to thank you for your support this term. The feedback and words of encouragement have been appreciated.

Happy holidays, team Huapai!

Kind regards,

Maree Lloyd

Bricks 4 Kids

Does your child love Lego? We are pleased to be able to offer an after school wider opportunity next term. If your child is interested, please contact the Bricks 4 Kidz team directly to register.

These sessions will be in Studio 2 on Tuesday afternoons, starting next term. There are limited spaces. Suitable for ages 6+.

Sanitary Supplies For Schools

As part of the Ministry of Education’s new initiative to provide free access to sanitary products for all school aged females, we have received our first supply. These items are located in the year 7&8 bathrooms and in the classrooms for years 3-6. For more information, please click on the link below.

Driving On School Grounds

The school driveway is reserved for emergency and staff vehicles only. We have noticed an increase in cars driving onto school grounds recently, especially at drop off and pick up times. This is a health and safety risk. We therefore request that you please park on the road when dropping off or collecting your child(ren).

We also ask that you please refrain from parking across the school driveway, even for a short period of time, as this prevents authorised vehicles from entering or exiting the school.

Yummy Apple Stickers

It’s time to start collecting the apple stickers again! Every year we collect these stickers and bag cut outs, which count towards a share of $200,000 free DG sports gear. There is a printable form attached to this newsletter, or children can collect one from the office. Sticker sheets should be returned to school when they are complete.

Massey High School Open Night
