Attention Boys & Ghouls - It's Time for Harvest Fest!
Mark your calendar for October 17th! Harvest Fest is back and will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. We are looking forward to another spooktalular fest! As always there will be games, crafts, stories and the infamous cake walk!
Do you have a Couple Dollars and an Hour? That’s all it would take to make two cakes. Really. Get in touch with your creative side and make a cake for the cake walk. This is a huge favorite for the kids and families of Central so we need lots of cakes. One box of cake can go a long way. Imagine all the things you can make with a round cake pan... An array of different pumpkin faces, a mummy’s face, a scarecrow face, a dracula face, a cat face, a spider, a web with a small spider, a baseball, a basketball or a soccer ball. With a square cake 8x8 pan you could make a Frankenstein face, a baseball diamond or cut the cake in half and make two candy corns. With a rectangle 9x13 pan try a basketball court, football and/or soccer field, a tombstone or create your own creepy scene (all the while remembering, this is a kids party of course).
One box cake really does go a long way. You can evenly distribute your batter to fill up two round pans and one square pan. While the cakes are baking, take a piece of cardboard, put aluminum foil around it and use that as your ‘plate’. Once the cakes have cooled, put one round cake on each cardboard, then cut the square cake diagonally. Place the diagonal piece above the round cake and make a witch face with a hat on. You can buy white icing, separate it into bowls and color it whatever color you need for whatever you decide to do. If you don’t have icing tips, put the color you need in a small zip lock baggie, cut a very tiny piece off of the edge of the bag and squirt out your icing to make a web, letters, eyeballs or whatever. You will be really surprised how simple it is. Last year will be hard to top but I know you have it in you! The kids LOVED all the ‘cool’ and ‘creepy’ cakes! Make it a fun project you do with your kids, they will LOVE it!!!!
Just a few friendly reminders...
