- Students must log in with an SDOJ email address to gain access to the schedule change request form.
- Please submit all schedule change requests by Friday, June 9 at 2:00 p.m. ALL schedule change requests submitted AFTER June 9 will be processed in late August when school counselors return to the building.
- Lunch periods will not be determined until late August.
- All TA requests will be processed the first week of school. If you were approved to TA at course selection, please see your counselor the first week of school to pick up the necessary paperwork.
- Flex time/work release will be added when your YA instructor makes contact with your counselor to let them know which class periods you need flex time. All Coop and YA questions should be directed to your YA/Coop instructor.
Last academic school days:
- The last day of school for seniors will be Thursday, June 1.
- Graduation practice is Friday, June 2 at 7:45 am.
- A BrightArrow notification was sent to seniors and their parents on Friday, May 26 regarding graduation practice and the graduation ceremony. Please check your email for details.
- The last day for underclassmen, faculty, and staff will be Wednesday, June 7.
- Underclassmen will be dismissed at 1:10 on June 5 and 6 and 11:40 on June 7. The exception to this would be students using alternate periods to complete exams. Buses will not pick up high school students early on June 5 and 6. Students are responsible for their own transportation if leaving school at 1:10. Students who need to ride the bus will have access to work quietly in the commons.
- Exam exemptions were distributed to students on May 24. Exam exemption forms are due NO LATER THAN JUNE 2, 2023 at the end of the school day.
Chromebooks:
- Seniors may purchase their Chromebooks. These Chromebooks were scheduled to be retired and sold for a nominal fee. The SDoJ has decided to offer these Chromebooks to seniors for $20.
- All seniors have been charged $20 for their Chromebook and can either pay online or in the main office (checks can be made out to SDoJ). The charge will be removed from a student’s account if they return their Chromebook. A Google form was sent to seniors, via email, instructing them to fill out this form if they would like to keep their Chromebook.
- SENIORS, if you decide you are not going to purchase your Chromebook, please return your Chromebook, charger, and protective cover, to Mrs. Ganser or Mrs. Gehring in the main office BEFORE graduation practice on June 2.
- SDoJ has also decided that underclassmen will be allowed to retain their Chromebook for the summer months and bring them back to school when they return in the fall.
- If you will not be returning to JHS in the fall, please drop off your Chromebook in the main office.
- Parents: If you do not want your student to keep their Chromebook over the summer, please ask them to return their Chromebook to the main office prior to leaving on June.
- All SDoJ 1:1 policies are still enforced during the summer months.
- ACCEPTABLE USE OF JHS CHROMEBOOKS AND CAMERA MEANS:
- My use has legitimate educational or other school-authorized purposes.
- My use is legal and ethical (avoiding cheating and/or plagiarism).

TIPS FROM SENIORS
TO INCOMING FRESHMEN
Don't Stress About:
- Getting lost in the school. Someone will help you out if you're willing to ask.
- The DRAMA!!!
- Other people's opinions
- Finding your classrooms or being bothered by upperclassmen
- You'll find a group if your friends aren't in the same lunch as you
An Academic Tip Your Teachers are Right About:
- Use class time wisely. Get assignments in on time and do not procrastinate.. RELAX
- take some AP classes, but not too many
- If you fall behind, you tend to stay behind! (Do your work when given the time)
- cramming should not be your primary means of studying
Time Goes by FAST! Don't Forget To:
- Join clubs and play sports
- Make new friends
- Try new things and classes with new content
- Wash your hands
- Enjoy school events
Best Kept Secret:
- It's not as overwhelming as it seems
- I/E time is a GREAT time to get caught up with school work or finish what you need to
- Teachers don't actually sleep at school. If you see them at school after hours, they're putting in extra time for you.
And, One More Thing:
- Be yourself and don't change because you think you have to....you don't!
- Don't go overboard on school supplies
- Don't be afraid to go out of your way to be nice to people. You never know who needs it.
- Burrito bowls are the best option for school lunch!
