Backround information about Aung San Suu Kyi

Aung San Suu Kyi was born on the 19th of June 1945 in Rangoon. Her Zodiac Sign is a Gemini. Her father Aung San founded the modern Burma's independence from the British Empire in 1947. She grew up with her mother Khin Kyi and her two brothers Aung San Lin and Aung San Oo in Rangoon. Aung San Lin died at the age of 8 when he drowned in an ornamental lake on the grounds of the house. her older brother emigrated to sand diego, becoming a united states citizen. After Aung San Lin's death the family moved to a house by Inya lake where Suu Kyi met people of very different backrounds, political views and religions. She was educated in Methodist English High school for much of her childhood in Burma, where she was noted as having a talent of learning languages.

Aung San Suu Kyi returned to Burma in 1988 , after years living and studying overseas, only to find protesters rallying against the brutal rule of dictator U NE WIN. She spoke out against him and started a non violent move toward achieving democracy and human rights. In 1989, the government placed Suu Kyi under house arrest, and she spent 15 of the next 21 years in custody. In 1991 her ongoing efforts won her the Nobel prize for peace.

I have learnt that Aung San Suu Kyi has gone through a whole heap of stuff including going overseas and coming back to find someone that is running the country that isn't nice so she spoke out against him and started a non violent move toward achieving democracy and human rights. A year later the government placed Suu Kyi under house arrest for the next 15 to 21 years in custody.
