Keeping the Brain Warmed Up...
Summer Reading:
Children grow into readers by reading, reading, and reading some more! The summer is a great time to foster a love of reading. Children’s book author Kate DiCamillo states, “Reading should not be presented to children as a chore or duty. It should be offered to them as a precious gift.” Please partner with us this summer to support your children in enjoying reading. Attached is a flyer with some ideas of how you can keep your children reading, listening, and writing this summer. They’re fun and easy! Here is a website with more information.
Summer Math:
Summer is the perfect time for students of all ages to relax, but it’s also a time when summer learning loss can occur. This learning loss is called the “summer slide,” and happens when children do not engage in educational activities during the summer months. Luckily, there’s a lot you can do—and it doesn’t have to be a drag, either. Summers are for fun, and that’s why we have some fun solutions for you and your child to work on together. Click here to access a variety of fun summer math activities!
Thanks!
Next Year is going to be Sizzling!
- We will be sending out class placements through Powerschool in August, along with welcome letters and supply lists. We will send an email to let you know when they are available.
- Open Door Day will be on August 21st from 9-11. Open Door Day is a fun opportunity for incoming 4th-grade students, returning students, and students new to Mill Pond to see their classrooms and tour the school with their families.
- School starts on August 28th! Already looking forward to it! (If I was this happy last year, I can't imagine this year!)
Thank you and Take Care!
