Principal's Message
Dear RMS Staff,
We had quite a week and I know many of us are still recovering. As tired as we all may be, it is also a good sign of the progress we have continued to make due to our commitment to the school improvement goals as we aim to increase achievement for all students. This is an ongoing process. A huge SHOUT OUT to all staff that helped prepare, participate, supervised and supported our students for the 2nd Quarter School-Wide Assembly! The students really had a blast with the teacher vs students pick-up game, minute to win it activities, musical action, and most importantly seeing their peers that earned academic accolades and senator pride awards run out on the courts as we celebrated their accomplishments. The goal is that we want more students to see that they also have what it takes to be a Senator Strong Students. I believe we had about 221 students that made the Honor Roll (about 36% of our population). We should strive to get at least 45% for the 3rd quarter. With the plans we have created, goal setting conversations, and RtI support, I am in the belief that we can accomplish this goal. So, again, thank you for taking a risk and having fun with our students last Friday. Our climate and culture is improving and we all have a hand in this positive progress.
This Week…

HAC/ TAC Updates
We are pulling reports and have noticed that some staff are not entering grades for parents to see (at least 2-3 grades must be entered per week). Parents cannot support you and the students if there are no grades evident in the system. This is a communication tool that lets parents get involved in the instructional process. Thank you to all teachers adhering to this practice!
We are in need of hiring two additional para-professionals and a lunchroom supervisor. If you know of quality candidates out there, please send them our way. They need to go to the district site and complete the application process.
Administration, Counseling, and other support staff will be involved with ACT Goal Setting Conversations with our students. The team determined it would be best to work with students during elective courses. Since we have utilized Social Studies classes for past activities, we are looking at pulling students during PE/ Health. The team will meet with PE/ Health teachers to discuss this plan and begin implementation next week. Prior to goal setting, we will discuss the rationale of the test, its impact on students, the school, and how to best be prepared.
Have a great week!
