Tuesday, May 17, 2022 Early Dismissal

Tuesday, May 17, 2022, is a Teacher In-Service day with an early dismissal for all students. Our district buildings are utilized as polling locations for the primary election. A separate entrance is provided for voters and the public does not come in contact with our students in the building.

Delaware County School Bus Safety Competition Rodeo

The Delaware County School Bus Safety Competition-Rodeo was held this past Saturday, May 7th, 2022 at the DCIU in Morton. Haverford school bus drivers as well as some of the best in the county battled the Noreaster conditions with 40 mph winds and a steady downpour all morning for a chance to qualify in the Pennsylvania State School Bus Safety Competiton-Rodeo to be held in June. After a 2-year postponement due to Covid, our very own reigning, defending State Champion Jim O'Toole (Bus 22) once again took home 1st place. We also had all 4 of our Haverford contestants qualify for the state competition, which takes the top 10 finishers. Dennis Anderson (Bus 17) finished 3rd, Lihua Xu (Bus 27) finished 5th, and Sharon Neigh (Bus 67) finished 7th.
The School District of Haverford Township held its 2nd annual Haverford School Bus "Rodeo" Safety Competition on Saturday, April 30th, 2022. This competition was one week before the Delaware County School Bus "Rodeo" Safety Competition. This was a great opportunity for our drivers to work on some mental and physical aspects of school bus driving and safety.

Celebrate National School Nurse Day

Wednesday, May 11, 2022, was National School Nurse Day! We honor the more than 95,000 school nurses in the United States who are the leaders bridging healthcare and education, providing care coordination, advocating for quality student-centered care, and collaborating to design systems that allow individuals and communities to develop their full potential!

Hats off to our Food Service Staff

Now in its 10th year, School Lunch Hero Day is a national program dedicated to providing well-deserved recognition to school food service workers for their role in keeping children well-fed, happy and healthy.

The founder of School Lunch hero Day, Jarrett Krosoczka, is also the author of the acclaimed Lunch Lady book series, chronicling the exciting adventures of the heroic Lunch Lady. To commemorate their 25th anniversary this year, Chartwells is donating copies of Krosoczka's new Lunch Lady 2-for-1 Special: The First Helping to all of our elementary schools in the district.

They hope the books provide a lasting tribute to the extraordinary efforts of our food service staff and provide your students with a fun way to learn more about these real-life superheroes.

Please join us in saluting our dedicated cafeteria staff who have provided meals to our students during this unprecedented year!
