Dear Corley Community,
October was a WONDERFUL month! It was so exciting seeing many of you in the building for our many celebrations! The teachers and staff at Corley are excited to grow our partnership with you! The success of each of our Corley Scholars is evident through our great partnership!
It was great seeing many of you at our recent Trunk or Treat Celebration! We had over 1,100 visitors to attend! Great events like 4 Core Night, the Relay for Life 5K, Great Day of Service, Parent-Teacher Conferences, and PTA Meetings are remarkable ways to bridge our common goal for success with each Corley Scholar! We appreciate the support of our newly established PTA, and can't wait to see the greatness of this partnership!
November is a very busy month and we can't wait to see you for the upcoming Holiday Luncheon! We are #CorleyStrong! We can't wait to see you soon! If you have additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact me or our administrative team. Please review the exciting updates below.

Parent Teacher Association Updates
Corley Elementary now has a Parent Teacher Association (PTA)! A special thank you to community members and staff members who have collaborated to make this a huge success. We are looking forward to an even bigger partnership with the community through this process. More information is to come!

Hispanic Heritage Month
National Hispanic Heritage Month is annually celebrated from September 15th to October 15th. During this time, we recognize the contributions and influence of Hispanic Americans to the history, culture, and achievements for the United States. Please take a look at some of the many ways that we celebrated this culture at Corley Elementary!

Score with 4 Core!
Corley families were invited to join us on October 3rd to Score with 4 Core! We hope that parents and students had a wonderful time visiting the school and participating in the fun activities for each grade level. Most importantly, we hope that parents left feeling better equipped to support their students with learning at home!

RELAY FOR LIFE - Coin Challenge Day
Thank you to Ms. Elliott and Ms. Stateman for leading the charge for Relay for Life! From the Coin Challenge to the Pink Out to the Relay for Life 5K, staff and students were able to participate in a variety of ways to raise awareness and money for cancer research.
Corley raised a total of $515.01!

And the winner is... 2nd grade!
Congratulations to 2nd Grade for raising the most money during the Relay for Life Coin Challenge! The entire grade level celebrated by duct-taping Mr. Jackson to the wall to "stick it" to cancer!

National Apple Day
🍎 Our teachers and students put CORe in CORley! 🍎
National Apple Day is a delightful celebration of one of the world's most beloved fruits—the apple. This annual event pays homage to the diversity of apple varieties, history, and culinary versatility. Here at Corley, we celebrated with a rich apple bar that offered candy, caramel, chocolate, and honey apples with a wide variety of toppings.GCPS Blueprint For The Future

National Pumpkin Day
National Pumpkin Day is observed on October 26th to celebrate one of the most beloved symbols of Autumn. At Corley ES the staff celebrated this day together and great memories were made. Here are some highlights from our fabulous pumpkin celebration.

Great Day of Service Corley Clean-up project!
On Saturday, October 21st Mr. Jackson collaborated with several staff members to implement Great Day of Service at Corley Elementary! Several staff and community members donated paint and cleaning supplies to make the event a success! We would like to thank the Berkmar HS Beta Club, Ms. Santangelo, Mrs. Houston, Dr. Davis, and Ms. Rouse for attending the event and helping to make Corley GREATER than ever!

Nickelodeon Partnership
We had such fun on Thursday, October 26th, when Nickelodeon sponsored a party to promote the release of the latest installment of the movies Monster High Movie 2 and A Really Haunted Loud House! After the event, students got to fill goodie bags with treats sponsored by Nickelodeon!

Trunk-or-Treat
What a spooktacular night we had at Corley Elementary's Trunk-or-Treat event! We are thrilled to announce that we had over 1,100 people attend this fun and festive celebration. Seeing all the creative costumes, decorations, and candy displays was amazing. We want to express our heartfelt gratitude to all the Corley volunteers and the Berkmar HS Beta Club students who helped make this night a success.
Book Character Dress Up Day
On October 31st, staff and students dressed as their favorite book characters. To add to the fun, staff members participated in a costume contest. Congratulations to our winning team: 2nd grade! Their portrayal of the Fancy Nancy books was spot on!
National Junior Beta Club
On October 31st, thirty-five 4th and 5th graders received an invitation to join Corley Elementary School's National Junior Beta Club. These students met the rigorous criteria to become a member of this prestigious National Organization. Should these students decide to accept the invitation, they will participate in Corley Elementary Schools Induction ceremony on November 29th.
The criteria for National Junior Beta Club include:
- Distinguished score on Reading or Math GMAS
- National Norm Ranking of 90th percentile or higher on the Reading or Math iReady assessment
- Students must be in 4th or 5th grade
- Students must demonstrate exemplary behavior (based on Corley’s PBIS expectations)
- Students must maintain an A/B average in all classes
- Students will also be required to obtain a letter of recommendation from one teacher

National Native American Heritage Month
November is National Native American Heritage Month.
GCPS celebrates each and every individual as we cultivate a culture of belonging while leading with empathy, equity, and excellence to ensure that GCPS students, families and staff feel welcome, safe, accepted, valued, and prepared for the future.

Digital Learning Day
Friday, November 3, is a Digital Learning Day (DLD) for all students. On scheduled DLDs, students access lessons in eCLASS but do not have virtual class time with their teachers. To ensure that students have a nutritious breakfast and lunch to fuel their learning, our bus drivers will be on the road and at every bus stop to deliver meals prepared by School Nutrition Program staff. Families should expect buses to run their routes from approximately 10:45 AM. to noon, beginning at the first stops on the route. These delivered meals are provided at no cost to families, and are provided to anyone 18 years old and under.
Holiday Luncheon
We are excited to announce that the 2023 Holiday Luncheons at Corley Elementary! Parents will be able to have lunch with their children and create memorable moments as we celebrate with delicious cuisine. In order to reserve space, we are kindly asking that no more than two approved guests are in attendance with each student. Please RSVP using the links posted in ParentSquare. The schedule for specific classes have been sent home with your student and are available for viewing via ParentSquare.

Harvest Hop
Please join us on November 16th from 5:00-6:30 PM for the Harvest Hop School Dance. Wear your best 1950s attire and join us for the fun! We will be selling pizza and drinks for $1 each. Please remember that children must be supervised by an adult at all times. Tickets are on sale on MyPaymentsPlus now!
Thanksgiving Break
We hope our students and school staff have a safe and relaxing Thanksgiving Break. We look forward to welcoming students and staff members back to learning when classes resume on Monday, November 27.
Important Reminders
Play 2 Learn
The Play 2 Learn program focuses on building the capacity of parents and caregivers to be their child's first teacher, as well as providing an opportunity for children to learn and play in a group setting. Caregivers are invited to bring children (ages birth to five) to a 90-minute session each week.

Once you create an account, you can use the site to pay for school lunches and field trips or to review and sign important documents. Free & Reduced Lunch
Children need healthy meals to learn. Gwinnett County Public Schools offers healthy meals every school day. Breakfast costs $1.50; lunch costs $2.25 for elementary and $2.50 at middle and high schools. Your children may qualify for free meals or for reduced-price meals. The reduced price is $.30 for breakfast and $.40 for lunch. Below are some common questions and answers to help you with the application process. Click HERE for complete the online application.
WHO CAN GET FREE OR REDUCED-PRICE MEALS?
- All children in households receiving benefits from SNAP or TANF are eligible for free.
- Foster children that are under the legal responsibility of a foster care agency or court are eligible for free.
- Children participating in their school’s Head Start program are eligible for free.
- Children who meet the definition of homeless, runaway, or migrant are eligible for free.
- Children may receive free or reduced-price meals if your household’s income is within the limits on the Federal Income Eligibility Chart.
Safety Reminders (Student Arrival)
School Hours
Office Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM
- All visitors must check in at the welcome desk and please be prepared to provide some form of identification upon request.
- Students should arrive between 8:15 AM- 8:50 AM.
- Morning announcements and the tardy bell rings at 8:50 AM.
- Dismissal bell rings at 3:15 PM.
- If you are checking your child out early, please do so before 2:30 PM. This leaves our bus lanes open for bus arrivals. Also, please remember that a picture ID is required for all student check-outs. Thank you!
