(NEW) Updates from the School Social Worker
Hello!
My name is Natalia Gall, and I am the school social worker at Nokomis South. I work closely with other school support staff to support students, staff, and families in the areas of social/emotional/behavioral support in order for all to experience safety and success at school.
This will be my second year as part of the Nokomis South community. I am excited to share that for the upcoming school year, I will be at Nokomis full-time with the ability to help support all students and families. I find joy in the dedication teachers and staff have shown for their students and school communities.
Along with supporting the social/emotional needs of students during the school day, I am also available to help connect families with various resources and supports in the community.
I am looking forward to the upcoming school year!
Below is my contact information:

I am thrilled to be part of a dedicated and caring learning community.
(NEW) Every Meal
Our school is excited to partner with Every Meal to offer their free weekend food program to all students. Every Meal is a nonprofit organization which strives to make a difference in children’s lives by focusing on food gaps like weekends, summers, and extended school breaks. If you choose to enroll, each Friday your student will receive a 4-5 pound bag of nutritious , nonperishable food items. We hope this is a helpful resource for your family to enjoy!
This week, look for an enrollment brochure that will be sent home by classroom teachers. This form outlines more details about the specific food offerings available. Once you receive the form, please fill it out and return the form to school with your child. If you would prefer to enroll online, please fill out the following form: Every Meal Enrollment. If you have multiple children, please fill out a new form for each child. If you have any questions or would like assistance in signing up, you may also contact: Natalia Gall, School Social Worker - email: natalia.gall@spps.org or call/text: 612-470-5913

(REMINDER) The School Lunch Program--A Change for This Year
All families are strongly encouraged to complete an Application for Educational Benefits. These applications determine how much educational funding our school receives, and there are many other benefits for families who qualify for free or reduced meal eligibility. The application can be completed online at schoolcafe.com/spps as part of iUpdate. Paper applications are available at school. Here is a short video with steps for completing the application.
Families who do not qualify for free lunch and who choose to have their students eat school lunch will need to take time and set up a SchoolCafé account, which can be done so here. Once you have signed in to your SchoolCafé account, you will want to deposit money for your student to be able to get lunch each day.
Meal Information
All students receive a free breakfast at school. As students arrive at school, they can grab their breakfast and eat in class. Hot and cold breakfast options are available.
For students who do not qualify for free lunch, the 2022-23 paid lunch prices are:
- Grades PreK-5: $2.70
- Second Meal: $5.00
The prices for single item purchases can be found at spps.org/ns.
